Brake pads-less dusting desired...

Currently have OEM pads/rotors with 20K miles on 'em.

I absolutely HATE the brake dust and I just had a set of R84s powdercoated white (BEAUTIFUL IMHO)...I want to change to pads with less dusting.

Recommendations?

I do have a brand-new set of Mintex Reds on hand...

Thanks!

Erika

Bobcats at AXC by Carbotech. Lower dust better stopping power. http://www.autoxcooper.com/ctbrakes.html

I've been running Hawk ceramics with OEM rotors for the last 25K miles. VERY low dust that is very easy to clean. But wish they had a bit more bite. I'm about to install Ate rotors and Carbotech Bobcats...

Most of the ceramics produce less dust - PBR, hawk, ect....

carbotech is the only way to go made in US and no dust. 1521 (bobcat) has almost no dust and they will not cut your rotors like the hawk will

Hmmm...ceramics seem to be what everyone is suggesting...will I need to upgrade my 21K+ OEM rotors?

Thanks!

Condition of your current rotors is a seperate issue - if they are good, then no replacement if not then replace. If they need replacing, use the board like you are now. There are some good aftermarkets at a good price.

If you decide to look at ceramics - get prices for the PBR/Axxis ceramics. I know people running them and are very happy w/ the little dust they produce and the bite they give. Some feel they bite better than the hawk ceramics

Peter carries the PBR ceramics (minspeed.net)

As per many recommendations. You should machine or turn your rotors when you put new pads. This is to get the best performance and pad life.

with that many miles you will need to get them turned regardless of what pads you use inless you use oem again. my wife has them on her r50 today a washed it, the rims i hosed then toweled dry. the towel came up almost clean. it was that easy

absolutely, when you turn your rotors you have clean slate,so when you bed them you are trying to deposit pad material on to the new rotor face, thats what makes them perform at their best
