Donut Question

I finally picked up a donut spare for my S.

How do you store/secure yours?

Damn, and I was gonna say 'glazed'.

Safest place is behind the driver's or passenger's seat.
Do you plan to carry it around all the time, or just on road trips?

I bought a bag for mine from NAM's own jerseygirl aka the bag lady. It rides behind the front passenger seat. Once the seat is pulled back against the donut it is in there pretty snug. That's what I've been doing for the last 2 years. It works well for me.

I'd like a donut for my car too but I think I'm looking in the wrong places.

I take cord and secure it upright against the vertical of the portion in the bag seat. Its a temporary but secure mounting and I only carry it on long trips.

You can secure it with straps or strong bungie cords in the iso clips and the bars of the headrest.

IMO in an accident that spare is going to go right through those back seats. That is why I chose the behind the seat front location. It's low & the front seat is more substantial than the back seat backrest.

naffets, I bought my donut here in the marketplace.

I put my cd cases behind the front seats. I don't even own a spare tire, though I have a spare steel rim. It was the original Honda rim I bought from a junk yard to test fitment before ordering 4 new ones from the Honda dealer.

No a real man eats his donuts when they are good & fresh. One big stale one in the car is enough for me.

Edit..... Your real man needs may vary.

I ordered mine from Classic Mini in Ohio. They had a good deal. I think they give a NAM discount.

Also have the bag from NJ baglady. Green to match the car.

By searching this tire forum, I discovered the Chevy Cobalt spacesaver donut spare fits the MCS. A junk yard here in northwesten NJ sold me one--rim and tire--for $35.

He still has one left. PM me and I'll give you his phone # altlhough I don't know if he'd ship it.

That's a great deal. Have you made sure it will fit over the brakes?

Yes, the cobalt spare worked great for me when I had a blow out. However.... my blow out was on the rear and it easily fit over the rear brakes. I do not know if it fits over the front brakes. That being said I would not run different size wheels on the front anyways and would move rear wheels forward if I had a blowout on the front.
