can't say that I'm a big fan. just like the jcw kit, I think they have forgotten that we have other options, most of which are better and less expensive. Someone over at mini/jcw needs to pull their heads out of their asses. Sorry, just had to vent, I still can get over the works kit and its price.

it's kind of hard for me to like the works kit when for 1/3 or the money you can get randy to do a pulley/ecu/intake/magnaflow combo and run circles around the jcw kit that cost damn near $6000 when installed compared to the sub $2000 of the kit from randy? But yes if they were giving the works kit away I'd take one but to pay 3x more than something that is already out there just seems absurd. If mini had actually come out with the kit in late 2002 I could see it maybe being worth it with the fact that there wasn't an alternative, but times have changed

i fully agree with you, and hope to do the mods from randy like you mentioned when my warranty runs out in a few years  (this way i get a chance to see how the cars hold up for all the guys that did mods )

one word of wisdom, if you plan on waiting, don't ride in someone's car who has the mods, you won't be able to contain yourself. The way I look at it is, randy's mods are pretty much the same as the ones in the works package, so for a dealer to try to point the finger at your mods it would be like the pot calling the kettle black. Just got randy to do my pulley and ecu this weekend in addition to my magnaflow and intake and it is awesome. I wasn't so highly opinionated about the works kit until I got my pulley and ecu done, and then talked to the guys who had the works kits. Hope all is well, remember you have been warned now about riding in someone's car with randy's mods, it has a tendency to cause people to pull out their check books very fast

I don't think all of the details are available yet. The JCW kit is in very short supply. The kit is only for the MCS in the US although there is a kit for the MC in europe. The JCW seats and rims are good on any cooper but the details of cost and availability in the US is not yet out. Ask you nearest dealer for the info or get on the mailing list.
The rims are 18" so I would expect them to be HEAVY and EXPENSIVE. Should I emphasize that more?
Take your pick but you would be better off going shopping more. There are plenty of other really nice rims and seats for that matter. Your choice as always. When I first saw the rims I did initially think they were nice but after seeing many many many other rims over the last 3 months I think the other choices are better. Have fun.

Oh I just added that in addition to the RIMs there are JCW seats that are both not part of the JCW kit.
So the rims and the seats are all extras and not much is known about them yet other than what is on the JCW site.

It's just a mention. Still focusing on the rims for now.
I sorta like the SSR GT1 rims in 17 or 18" better anyway-plus there are many others that are great choices.

You are a better man than I.

No problem for me there. I can resist that- most of my funds are going up up up.

This is the big test each day.

It's like Jeckle and Hyde. Once you place yourself in the driver's seat with those big mods- it is really tough to restrain yourself. However if I am trying for a new high for mpg I can hold back for about 100 miles to do the check.
Recently I got 32 mpg with my MCS with Madness intake, throttlebody upgrade, Quicksilver exhaust and lots of susp upgrades. More realistic average is 5000 rpm and 26 mpg.

I agree...partially. I think on most any other car they would look quite bad. But because of the way the MINI is shaped, with few hard lines, I think the wheels do quite nicely. When wheel shopping I found that there are few wheels that don't look downright angular when put on the care. The JCW wheels do a good job of matching the car. I think if you saw them in person you'd at least find them tollerable.

I know this a little off topic, but Doc, how much did you spend on Mods to save on gas? it's like offering breast reduction to cure back pain, sure it will help but at what cost?

Well, I'll weigh in...the wheels are awesome IMO. They fit the styling perfectly (I've been eyeing them for awhile). If they were 17", I'd spring for them. A lot of the other wheels people seem to be replacing their OEMs with just don't work (not speaking about anybody in particular).

Classy.

Okay, personally I like those rims. But, I think you should go ahead and get what rims you like. It's your car, it's your money, it's up to you to make yourself happy. So, if those rims are the ones you like. Go for it. More power to you...
