WayMotorWorks Brake Duct Install

After the last HPDE at Limerock, definitely felt like I needed to better the brakes.

Just installed the WayMotorWorks brake duct kit. It did not come with instructions, which is not very helpful, but Way was helpful on the phone. Also got some advice from Msfitoy who has done this mod as well.

I lose my fog lights, but hey, they didn't do that much but look kind of cool. Well, they are permanently gone now since I had to trim away the entire fog light mounting plastic.

I kind of muffed up on the rivets - this was the first time using a rivet gun and even though I practiced quite a bit, I am definitely no expert! I found that the nail protruding out sometimes snapped way up high...necessitating me to cut if off with a dremmel. Grr. Oh well, next time! Also one of the washers fell off unexpectedly so I had to drill out the rivet and re-do it.

I used some plastic Rust-o-leum paint from HD for the job. I know it's going to get hammered from rocks and sand anyways so I just wanted it to look somewhat decent at least to begin with, but I won't be suprised that it gets all speckled up in no time.

Also after putting everything together I found that when I locked the wheel, it ended up hitting the end of the duct. So while it was still on jacks I crawled under there and dremmeled away a about 1/2" off the edge of the duct. After driving about 50 miles yesterday, everything seems fine and dandy and the slip fit has not come off due to any bumps or vibrations (knock on wood).

Here are some pics of the process:

Nice job Shoe...

If you want to match the satin look of the trim, try Krylon Satin Black...the best spray bomb in the world!

Can someone make these work for the aero kit? I saw it in a thread, but it looked like a ton of work to make happen.

Brake Ducts in the Aero Kit. Yes it is a lot of work, 10 hours body shop, 6 hours paint shop, and lucky for me I get to do it all over again since I tore up the front over the weekend. Hopefully we learned enough on the first go round to do them a bit quicker the second time.

Oh man, sorry you have to do it all over again. I guess the question is whether or not all of the time/$ is worth the end product. Maybe if I really wanted to do this, I'd just buy a regular front bumper cover. But that wouldn't look as cool. Oh well...
