That's 3% smaller than stock. A general rule of thumb to keep your gearing and speedometer accuracy close to correct is to keep tire size within 2% of stock. I would not run the 215/40R17. Too small. See this excellent tire size calculator.

A lot of the 15" Rota wheels will not fit without a spacer at the back axle because they'll run into the rear control arm. I think all of them will fit over the brake calipers, though.

Also do the stock Mini center caps work on Rotas?
No. You can peel off the "R" labels though, and apply a custom label. Lots of vinyl shops will make you one.

mounting hardware (lugs and centering ring)?
Hubcentric rings are included if necessary. You'll re-use your stock lug bolts.

What about tax?
You only pay tax if we're shipping to Virginia.

Will the offset of the wheel make a difference with the control arm? I see that some Rota's come in 35,38, 40, 42 and 45mm offfsets. Wouldn't that be the same as using spacers.... if a lower offset is used therefore effectively moving the wheel out to the edge of the wheelwell? Will it then clear the contol arm? Thanks for responding.

Yes, maybe. But then you're moving the wheel far away from its factory offset, which has negative effects on steering feel and front-end suspension geometry.

Why not just go with 16's? 16" tires are still inexpensive, and the wheel/tire set won't weigh much more.

Thanks again all and especially Dan, 215/45-17's it is, on the Rota RB Royal Hyper Blacks with the drop from the H-Sports this should fill out those wheel wells nicely. I'll have to do pictures and all at the weekend when my new dogs are on. And I'll have to say this has got me pretty geeked to try my new set up.

You know I am a webspoke wheel lover but I do like these more. I was about to pull the trigger but I have to see what they look like on a car with the aero kit. Just worried the classic look of the wheel and the aggressive look of the kit may not work together. Having a hard time seeing it in my head.

What would work for me is I have a PW/B and would go with a royal black w/ polished lip. The black center would probably tone down the middle some. I think they would look great but have to see it first. Keep waiting until someone posts a pic if they have one.

Dan,
I am confused. I thought I wasn't as I have researched extensively all threads pertaining to 15 inch wheels, offset, tire width etc. I see some run 225/50/15 with "finger widths" clearing the control arms no problem (8 inch wheel "POST" here on NAM); 205/55/15 fitting no problem fitting with stock height and other variables (Mini Hune); and 195/60/15 being a nice combination of "ride, comfort and width". So what doesn't clear or doesn't fit? In your opinion is it the tire with stock offset (45mm) and wide(r) tires (195 or 205 or 225); is it the wheel with with stock offset (even though less offset variations are available)? You recommend spacers but don't seem to like less offset. Does a 40mm offset affect the steering and geometry that much? Will a 42mm work in size of wheel, clearance, tire size, stering and geometry? Please make a suggestion as to what will work. How will a 16 inch work any differently as offset amounts can be the same and tire width can be the equal to any 15 inch wheel/tire. Maybe it goes back to what doesn't fit with a 15 inch wheel/tire combination. I appreciate your time and patience. This has been confusing for me, but, I think the questions are legitimate. Thank you again.

The problem is not the tire fitment, but the WHEEL itself, bumping into the rear control arm. It has nothing to do with the tire. The Rota 15's we have tried will contact the metal control arm with the metal wheel.

The 16" wheel fits fine because there's more control arm room out farther as the wheel gets larger in diameter.

So I have to totally forget about Rota's if I want 15 inch wheels? Additionally a lower offset which moves the wheel out further to the fender and moves the wheel away from the control arm teamed with a thinner 195/60/15 tire instead of 205/55/15 or 225/50/15 won't work? While some other 15 inch wheel brands are recommended, what is significantly different about Rota's that they won't work. Don't worry, you don't need to answer that question. Spacers though, you have said, will work in fitting Rota 15 inch wheels. Well, thank you very much for your time. I genuinely appreciate it. I'll have to do the best I can.

17 Black Polished lip

Thanks Dan, received my wheels quick, and installed with no hassle.

Put Nitto Neogen 215-40 on them, could not beat the price.

Wow, what a difference from my s-heavies!

Now someone just needs to do some serious detail work on this car....

What are my options if I want a different center cap?? The one that come with the RB's look good if they are black or dark silver. But on white they stick out like a sore thumb. Not to mention one of mine chipped when I put it on

Anyway of getting something to sit flush?

Oh.... here are mine..

Yes. Covered the Rota logo. What A.C. provides is a domed plastic logo with adhesive back. It does not replace the centercap.

Looks like these are now highest in the running for my new wheels. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look on the Mach V. Is a 1mm hub adapter just too thin to work properly? or could it be custom fabricated?

Do you mean our car? Like this:

Too thin. The good news is that we've been able to get almost all our current stock in 56.1mm hub bore.
