Pros/Cons-Replace front pads only
Most cars this is fine. But I have seen many post where the rear pads are need at the same time.
Best thing to do is just check the rears to see how much pad is left. If there is plenty only change the front.

I just had my 10K oil change & inspection...all four brake pads measured a "6" on the checklist they gave me.
is it 6 out of 10? 10 being new? O.O
i really dont like how much brake dust the brakes give off..too tiring cleaning the rims spotless all the time. ill wait till my warranty is up before i buy new pads.

I have no clue...maybe one of the vendors knows the answer?

If 6 is 6 of 10 on pad, no need to change any pads.
At 10,000 miles I would guess you don't need pads yet.
Why are you wanting to change the fronts?
If it is for dust, change both front and rear to Hawk ceramic. Great pads and almost no dust.

It's an arbitrary number. More then 1/2 the pad is left but less then 3/4, so call it a 6 or call it 60% or call it more then 1/2. It's all about the same.
No reason you can't swap out the fronts only. On the track I'll use 4-6 sets of fronts before the rears need to swapped. Very common on a Mini.
