Are brakes the same on the MCS and regular Mini?
Are brakes the same on the MCS and regular Mini?
I tried the search function and came up empty. That being said, I've swapped stock MCS front brakes for JCW brakes and wondered if a Non-S owner would benefit from putting these brakes on their car.
Also, are the suspensions (springs, struts/shocks, rear bar) the same from MCS and Non-S Minis?
I know the suspension question should be in the suspension section but I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.
Thanks!
Bo

All MINI brake parts are the same for MC or MCS or cabrios.
Suspension parts can be different based on options picked for MC or for MCS or for Cabrio and from year to year as the earliest models 2002-2003 had slightly stiffer shocks.
MC has smaller rear swaybar and softer spring rates than MCS. Each has many spring parts based on individual options selected at time of manufactor.
For 2007 MINIs, MC has stock sized brakes while MCS has JCW sized brakes standard. I would guess that stock MCS brakes will fit on an MC but then if the MC has smaller stock 15" wheels those wheels will not fit the larger caliper, 16" wheels should fit.
Same with any brake caliper upgrade for the older MC- add a JCW brake caliper and stock 15" wheels won't fit- they are too small. Need minimum 16" wheels.
If you have a MINI 2002 to 2006 then-All MINI brake parts are the same for MC or MCS or cabrios.

Yep, I saw those at Mini United and they looked pretty good.
Drilled rotors are mostly for looks. If you want to do performance driving it's usually better to stay with the solid rotors for durability. Stopping power is about the same. For car shows or just street driving the drilled rotors are OK.
Too bad they don't offer them slotted. I wish I had a dollar for every call I've had asking if I have JCW slotted rotors....But drilled? Do I dare ask the "option charge"?
