2002 R53 part out
For Sale2002 Mini R53: "Mk I" Mini Cooper S
Description:
My MINI DRIVER doesn't.
Reducing prices. I need to move on.
With lower prices, though, I'm not really interested in shipping things. It's time consuming for very little money.
The common shaft for the supercharger and water pump failed at 97k miles, puking oil and coolant on the highway before I noticed the pegged temperature gauge. It still started but the engine made noises and smoked when I parked it. I do not know the extent of the damage.
Parked it in July 2021 under a canopy. Purchased in March 2017 with just 47k miles on it from the owner's widow. It had sat for 3 years. Sonoma and Marin County, California car for its life, I believe, so no rust has been found.
Here's some of what's not available:
rear hatch, bumper and bumper cover
supercharger
door cards
complete exhaust system
passenger visor
hood, headlights and trim (going to make a cool awning for my garage man door)
passenger-side drive axle
mirror caps
power steering pump
rear shocks and springs
Some of what's available:
6 speed manual transmission
engine
radiator
A/C compressor, pump,
doors (sound insulated) A couple of dings.
front brake calipers with and rotors
alternator
radiator
fender trim ($90 new)
I will add more parts and photos as I have time.
Pickup preferred. Apple Pay and Venmo preferred as PayPal charges a fee.
Low ballers will be sent on your way.

|
inside door lock cable | Accessories | $7 | Bought this cable and it wasn't the issue according to my mechanic. Never mounted. Didn't return to Pelican as it was too much trouble and cost for a $17 part. Pick up only. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/51217143538.htm?pn=51-21-7-143-538-M26 |

Koni FSD shocks with factory sport springs (front only) | Accessories | $50 | Maybe 20,000 miles on them. Springs are original to the car. I don't see any leaks. I tried Bilstein B4 shocks but the ride was too harsh with run flats. I switched to Konis at the same time I got rid of the Bridgestone run flats, so, I don't know which had a larger effect on ride quality. Needs new rubbers. |
|
Panther leather interior non-heated | Accessories | $100 | I replaced my torn vinyl interior with these leather seats. Cheaper than reupholstering just the one seat. We had to steal a part from my old driver's seat to fix the recline mechanism. As a result, the adjustable lumbar doesn't work on the driver's side. I did have an airbag light which may be the passenger seat according to my mechanic. Some scuffing on the driver's seat entry bolster. Invest $25 in some leather dye and a foam brush to make them shine! Seats have been removed if you want more photos. |
|
Manual | Accessories | $10 | Good condition. Case is scuffed. Did anyone ever really get 33mpg? |
|
tail light- driver's | Accessories | $15 | The picture looks better than the real thing. Driver's side is a little cloudy. |
|
Stock air box | Accessories | $20 | All tabs are intact. Includes ECU cover. |
|
front bumper carrier beam | Accessories | $50 | Aluminum front bumper carrier. Not too keen on shipping it as the freight appears to be more than the part cost. |
|
front crush tubes | Accessories | $10 | front crush tubes |
|
Long block with single mass flywheel | Engine - Complete | $50 | Engine turns but there's glitter inside. Single mass clutch and flywheel with about 40k miles. I don't know the extent of the damage. |
|
6-speed manual transmission | Miscellaneous | $300 | 97k miles. Out of the car now. Shifted fine. It seemed like there was a bit more effort required for 5 and 6 but I don't have anything to compare it to since I've only driven my MINI. |

I've been offline most of the week as I've been dealing with family issues along with spending time with my youngest son, whom I haven't seen in two and a half years.
There was noise in the speaker, I changed doors including the speaker and the noise was still there. It's not something I would feel comfortable selling to anybody as a proper working unit.
I got rid of the original amp when I had the radio installed. I needed the luggage room.
I'll see if I can remove the brake lines tomorrow. I'm kind of overwhelmed with projects including bottle feeding a lamb.
Best,
Martin
You'll have to check with others who are more knowledgeable than I whether it works with a 2007.
Thanks for your interest.

Do you need just the toggle switches or the climate control switches, too?
Partsgeek has the toggles for $216 + $10 for shipping. https://www.partsgeek.com/wdg64z6-mi...SABEgL3RvD_BwE
I'm thinking $70 shipped to you. If you need the climate control switches, make it $100.
Do you need the chrome covers for the switches? I removed them for a guy who wanted all the chrome dash covers and then flaked on me.
Thanks,
Martin

You’re a week too late. Bummer because I wasn’t getting any traction, I let it go for a hundred bucks to a local guy.
