SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
How long did it take a competent mechanic to install the plates and what is a typical installation charge?
Rich
I think I still saved money over having a German mechanic do the work if you don't take the cost of aggrivation into account. We'll see if I have to tear it back down for adjustment.
I had the dampers, springs, and rear sway bar swapped at the same time and it ran almost $335 USD. With the time wasted for the rework (removing and reinstalling the plates in the proper positions and replacing a broken plate stud) it took nearly 12 hours.
Anyone know if Dinan Koni yellows come pre-adjusted?
yes - that's their idea of 'custom valved' they are identical to the off the shelf Koni yellows
I hope you're right. The kit came with installation instructions and one of the steps was to adjust the dampers all the way down then back off 1.5 turns. I asked the mechanic if he checked the adjustment before installation and of course he didn't.
If any of my guys performed maintenance like that I'd make sure they never turned wrenches on an aircraft again. Hmmmmm, maybe that's what happened to this guy.
'all the way down' meaning to full soft? Then, firm up by 1.5 turns? Same front and rear? If that's the case, then I came to the same conclusion as Dinan on my own.

Not 100% until I get back home to check the paperwork. I know it gave 1.5 turns front and back and I'm reasonably sure it was from full soft, but don't quote me on it.
