Lowering Springs - Opinions Sought

I would like to lower my '06 MCS about 1" - 1.5". This is strictly a road going car that will not be autocrossed or raced competively. I am looking for opinions and recommendations for a spring set that will NOT cause a harsh ride, but will lower the car the desired amount. Please offer your opinions on this, or refer me to other ( previous ) threads covering this topic....thanks in advance.

you'll want to be in the lower 200lbs/ft range on
the rates.

A few of us have lowered on Eibachs. A very nice ride compared to stock.
Beware of the 'vibration after lowering':

I think you will find the most common answer to be H-Sport (lowers about 1") b/c they're progressive rated and have a little cushion to keep a somewhat comfortable ride considering. (This is as per most of the responses I've seen/heard about them, not my personal experience). m7 springs are also progressive rated but lower a little more (about 1.3". I am installing these sunday and will have pics and such up then.) As far as other threads, I'm sure someone will post links. (I'm tired, so sue me. )

Edit: I didn't even get to post w/o someone already posting links.

I lowered mine with Eibachs almost a week ago, and it's in perfect condition. It drives even better, and the ride is as smooth.

Here is my car with the M7 springs and 205/40/17 tires which drop the car another 1/4 inch.

WOW - thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was considering shocks and springs, now I think I will just do shocks.

We have the M7 lowering springs in stock, along with the Alta rear control arms that you will also need.
Let me know if we can help you out.

Just wanted to put this out there for an update. I'm about a week away from ordering some springs and wanted to obtain any additional last minute input on the issue of spring selection. Currently I'm wavering between M7's and H-Sports. Again, this is a road going car that I'm looking to lower. No autocrossing or racing, just street driving...ocasssionaly spirited. Anyone else care to chime in??

I fell in love with the M7s but bought the H-Sports. You can probably get away with the stock control arms with the H-Sports and some believe 1.3 compromises handling + dynamics (lowering MINIs mostly being an aesthetic pursuit first of all).

(flame suit on?)

You'll prolly be happy with either. I'm def. content with mine!

I read in one related thread about a guy in Florida running H-Sports complaining about some front end bounciness while driving on the freeway. Any other H-Sport users ever experience this?

My car has 205/45 Run Flats on R90 wheels. I am not looking to change any other suspension components such as control arms to accommodate this modification. Also, I’d like to know if any suspension adjustments will be necessary after the spring installation with either the H-Sport or the M7, such as alignment, camber, castor. While you’re making recommendations on the springs, I’d also like to know the best sources with the most competitive prices.

We've had H Sports on our MCS for almost four years, no problems, ride is fine with stock or aftermarket shocks. I think they are a good spring for street use. We have used them with runflats and regular tires. I would do an alignment after any suspension changes.

Eibach Pro and Koni Sport with 18"s and it feels much better than stock. I've had them on my '05 MCS for over a year and it's been great.

I suggest the TSWs, but that would be my preference. Do a search on them and you'll see a lot of satisfied customers.

Speaking of - they're back in stock! (the TSW springs, that is)

We had a guy with back problems drive from Dallas to AMVIV last week, who complained that more than 2 hours in his car hurt his back before - and, when he arrived in Vegas, he damn near hugged us because he was pain free (and yet had FUN in the twisties on the way out!).

I'm thinking medical deduction here!

Hey Tex...while I totally agree that any car looks goofy with built-in rake, I'd go for the differnet drops you offer, if only they were a slight bit more than 5/8"F & 7/8"R. Any chance you guys are going to come up a set that perhaps gives us a combination of 1"F & 1.125"R drop, or somewhere thereabouts?

The vibration threads get me worried too....I have a set of m7 springs sitting in my garage....I'm concerned that I'll get the vibration on my 05 mcs with 9k miles....What really worries me is that I'll hate it and need to take them off again.
