I've lost all motivation as the one in the marketplace is sold. I would still like to see one though.

Hood liner

Yes, it raises the bonnet up 1/4"-3/8" in the center.....
Not happy about that at all.....

It does stiffen up the ride though for those that say they do nothing - I have a 90 degree corner by the house and was just out at the airport parking ramp (a big circle ramp 5 levels) wooha - gigaddy never touched the brakes and the MCS was straight as an arrow and holding it's line.

Wow - just put in the STB-B this morning, and it's definitely tightened up the car. This compliments the USS nicely. I purchased the STB with preventing mushrooming of the strut towers foremost in my mind, but the improvement in handling was a nice surprise.

For those who are wondering, it fits the Alta intake without notching the intake box.

Raises the hood a bit (perhaps 1/2"), but I'm not about to take it out - it just feels way too good to have that bar straddling the strut towers!

Well, it definitely makes more contact with the hood liner than the MINI-Clubsport strut tower brace it replaced. I'll prolly give the "soak & slam" trick a try this weekend and see how much that helps. Right now it's raising the bonnet about 5mm.

This may become a new status symbol. "My hood bulge is bigger than yours."

If you go for the " soak and slam " method be sure to wrap the brace in some plastic to prevent any water stains. Some have experienced a problem do to " hard " water or mineral deposits.

Thanks for the tip Randy

Is that just with the black bar or with both? I wonder if putting a coat of wax on the bar might not be a bad idea?

I don't know if anyone has tried that . Maby give the bottom side a coat and see how it takes. If you are going to be at AMVIV come up and say hello. I am packed and leaving in the morning.

I got mine today -- it looks great. Have to plan a little quality time in the garage this weekend. Too bad my car's filthy... that poor underhood area is crying out for my famous engine detail.

Impressions (hood clearance and otherwise) Saturday afternoon!

I got mine today too. Went on in about 15 minutes. My bonnet had a very unsightly bulge when I closed it. I ended up taking the insulation pad out. Now the bonnet lays flat. IMHO that padding is just for sound insulation, not to keep heat off the hood. My plans are to carefully measure where the brace hits the pad & do a bit of trimming, then reinstall it.

Here are some pictures of my install, and the injury that occurred because of it. But I do have to say that it tightened the handling of my Mini, or I could be imagining it due to the loss of blood.:impatient Haha, just kidding IT ROCKS! Any pics of black M7 STB?-dsc00862a.jpg

Red badge of courage and all that... the bar looks good! I'm planning on running a little local route, pulling in, slapping that badass black bar on there and running the route again... wish it was tonight

Why don't you guys fix the hood issue with these bars? Is there no room?
