? For adjustable coilover owners

My question has to do with the final ride height front to rear after corner & front to rear balancing.
I don't care what the height is, I want to know the difference front to rear in ride height.
The reason behind this question is I installed Koni lowering springs & yellow shocks along with RDR front camber plates.{also rear control arms} This set up left the front of the car 3/4" higher in the front than the rear {measured @ the center of the w.o. arches}. I was dissapointed that the front was not lower. However I am more interested in handling than looks. So I am wondering if the front being higher than the back{to a point} may be a good thing afterall.
I know you guys adjust for proper balance instead of what looks good, so was hoping you could give me an idea of wheather to try to correct the visual height problem or leave alone?
I had decided to go this way for now, but may be wishing I had done coilovers instead.

Which springs are they?

I have (off of memory, so it may be off a bit) 25" front and rear, which gives a bit of rake - the front is lower than the rear.

I'll correct that if they are the wrong numbers...

Hope that helps!

I used the Koni kit that includes the front struts, rear shocks & spring set.
Shocks are yellow, springs are blue.{not sure who makes the springs for Koni} I also installed RDR front camber plates at the same time.
The car measures 25" in the front & 24 1/4" in the rear{measured at the bottom edge @ center of the wheel arches}
If I measure from the ground up to the bottom edge of the jacking blocks. The front measures 5" and the rear measures 5 1/8".
If I measure from the ground up to the top of the rocker mld. @ each end.
The front measures 11" and the rear measures 11 1/8"
The kit was supposed to lower the car 1"{it lowered the rear 1" & the front 1/4"}.
Just looking @ the car it looks like it should be lower in the front wheelopening area.
I don't know if it is the springs or the combination springs & camber plate.
If a different set of springs would help I would probably do that.
Or I may wait & just do coilovers a little later.

Did install about three weeks ago, but have driven only about twenty miles because very busy with other commitments & haven't aligned suspension yet.

It is probably the springs, as I've used the Helix/RDR plates for some time without that issue. It sounds like the rear should be raised rather than the front be lowered.

I have H-Sport springs and the RDR camber plates. When I first installed the camber plates the front was noticeably higher than before the RDR install. After getting the alignment done (- 2 deg camber front, -1.5 deg camber rear) the front dropped enough to look nearly level. It is still somewhat higher in the front than before the camber plate install but not that noticeable. I will measure the height when I get home from work and post the results.

Thanks Dan.
I was wondering how much the front would lower as negative camber was increased, and some of the rear neg. camber was dialed out.
One of the reasons I haven't done an alignment yet is I'm still working on my bracket for the left upper control arm attaching point for the ride height sensor.

RDRs (at least mine)

raised the front. I just had the car ride height adjusted, corner balanced and aligned, and the gap in the front is a bit more than the rear. BUT the distance beween the ground and the side skirt is more in the rear than the front (Very slight rake).

Hope this helps...

Matt

BLIZZ,

I think you'll find those values very small - not meangingless in theory, just not a huge deal in practice. I'm with you though; I like to know the realtionships.

If we measured zero camber and then dialed in -10 degrees we would probably see something to be concerned with. Just an intuitive guess, not actual science.

I like the adjustable camber the Lotus Esprit has used in the movie the Spy Who Loved Me; so low it became a submarine.
