Suspension Camber Links Ireland vs H-Sport
Camber Links Ireland vs H-Sport
I'm looking into getting a set of rear camber links for the coming season. I have an '05 with H-Sport Springs. I've heard of a few Minis that have had rear camber link failures (including a friend on track!) and I'm getting a little paranoid about it since I track my car quite a bit. So I'm trying to decide with which set to go. Anyone have any experience with either a complete set from H-Sport or Ireland Engineering. I'm planning on also putting a set of Ireland Engineering front camber plates to save the front R-Compounds.
Anyway any recommendations would be wonderful.
cheers

What makes the Alta the better choice? Just curious. I know you've done tons of track time so I trust your advice. btw, how is the car coming?

The Altas, and also some others, are hiem joints as opposed to the polly type in the H-sport. It will make a noticeable difference in handling as opposed to the polly. The only slight downfall would be a slight more road noise transfer to the car.
H-sports tend to a failing jionts.
Go with all four and you'll end up with a big smile.

thanks, can't wait to see the new car. Have you signed up for any lapping events yet to shake down the car? Let me know if you do and i'll come out as well.
I'm going with the alta. Also what camber plates have you been running?

Thanks Randy, i'll give u a ring tomorrow. I wonder if you remember me, You did the pulley on my old car up in Boston around October '03. Tall Indian guy, drove in from Montreal. I remember when you were checking the bolts around the supercharger you found one loose that you had never seen before.

Randy and Onasled,
Have either of you noticed accelerated wear on the hiem joint arms when compared with poly joints in a mostly public road environment?
I drive lots of miles every year. The upper control arms in my last car were hiem joints - from Mugen. Though these were more accurate than the poly filled versions, they also wore out faster. I attributed this to the pounding these endured on public roads. They were only a little noisier, supporting your observations Onasled.
I don't have the experience to know if this is typical of hiem joints, or intrinsic to a particular design or load...but again, I drive 60K per year.

Hiems do have a rep for getting sloppy after time, especially on the raod. Alta says that theirs won't. Teflon coated or something like that. I can just tell you that after about 10K miles on mine, they are a firm as new. It surprises the heck out of my serious racing buddies.
I figure that the H-sport will fail sooner if tracked. At least that what seems to be going on.
Also. it's not like the hiem joints aren't replacable without the expence from Alta.

Right, that's sound advise; they are replacable.
I need to go have a look at my stock control arms very quickly; I was caught off-guard a few times in the past couple of days by the back end really moving around a lot! Dunno, but definately not a welcome characteristic.
