Torque Specifications / Specs

Hi all,

I was wondering if we could start a thread so that eeveryone who was into DIY projects could easily find the torque settings they needed.

I recently checked my plugs and made sure they were at 20 ft. lbs.

Lug nuts were set to 80 ft. lbs.

Does anyone have the settings for the brake caliper bushing pins? I changed out my pins but I couldn't find what the correct torque setting is.

Since I had to change out my rotors (cross drilled holes started to crack) I had to remove the 16mm bolts that hold the caliper in as well and I couldn't find the torque setting for that either.

So let's start a list and anybody who has any additional items to add to the list, please post it up. Thanks.

Note: if you have Nm values, multiply it by .74 to get the ft-lb value (according to Nick T.)

This is what I've got so far.......

Description -- Torque ft. lbs/Inch.lbs
1) Lug nuts - 80/960
2) Spark plugs - 20/240
3) Strut tower bolts - 25/300
4) Oil Drain plug - 23/276
5) Oil filter housing - 18/216
6) 17% Alta Pulley - 6.67/80

Looking forward to a nice big list here.....Let me know if people would find this useful....

Not quite true, as the materials the pullies are made out of differ greatly. Alta makes their pullies out of stainless, whereas we use 6061 aluminum. We use grade 10 bolts, they may use something different. It's the little things that count when figuring a good torque spec.

What about we PM/post the torque specs and you just keep editing/adding what we send.... so at least it stays on the 1st page.. Just a suggestion..

But anyhow great idea..

If you're in to DIY Mini projects you should invest - and yeah, it's not cheap, so it is a bit of an investment! - in a Bentley shop manual, which will also give you all the torque values you need.

For autocross I found that the lug nuts come loose at 88. I have to use 93.

Kosei K1 TS 15x7 wheels, Hoosier 225/45/15 tires.

I use 90-92 on the street, or else they eventually work loose. 15x6.5 Rota Circuit 8 wheels, BFG KDW-2 205/50-15 tires.

Not sure why.

I will be investing in one soon, however, I hear that there's one coming out at the end of the year for the 05's. Because of this, I rather get that one, even though there are little changes in the models. In the meantime though, it would be nice for a little fill in.
