Suspension front strut mount part number
front strut mount part number
does anybody know the part number for the front strut mount for an 05 MC? It's that triangular plate with the three bolts that extend into the engine bay just over the wheel wells.
or better yet, does anybody know if i can just replace a broken bolt on the mount?

Strut top mounting nut fits on the bolt.
The nut is M8x1.25 (tighten to 34 Nm= 25 ft-lbs)
Besides overtorquing the nut another common problem with bolt failure is use of aftermarket lowering springs like H-sport which when used for aggressive driving overstresses the bolts on the strut top mount.
Still another problem is installing a strut tower brace and overtorquing the nuts at that time.
I looked in the bentley service manual but didn't see part numbers. I'd replace the full strut top mount rather than fix the broken bolt. There are different part numbers for the strut top mount from before and after 3/2002.
For those using aftermarket adjustable front camber plates, the beefy and thick plates (that raise the ride height some 4 to 8mm) are up to the task of handling increased stresses from lowering your MINI.

Mataku, I wish you the best of luck with your future upgrades! A year ago, I was in your shoes.

I sure didn't see anything wrong with it. I was just going to post to it with a good example of what I was talking about too. Here's another example of someone working on their stuff that had no clue - now he needs another new engine: http://www.sbtontheweb.com/forum/showthread.php?p=96764
hm... seems the part numbers are just confusing. the other thread gives two part numbers for after 3/2002 builds. would i be able to just talk to describe the part to them and get it?
