Lowered my JCW with H&R spring and vibration

Hello everyone, I recently lowered my JCW with H&R springs and since then I've noticed a slight vibration when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. It's a very subtle vibration that's only noticeable between 20-30 km/h. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution? I had the tires adjusted after lowering the springs and everything seemed fine, but the vibration persists. The car only has 63,000 km on it.

No direct experience, but would suggest confirming tire alignment, from there I would inspect your engine mounts to see if they could be the source of your vibration. With the springs likely being a higher rate, your tires will transfer additional road vibrations up into the chassis, which is why I would start with the alignment. Good luck.

Well, if you are certain on your alignment and the suspension is in good condition, your engine mount is just one of the more likely sources of a vibration like that. The upper passenger side mount is a liquid filled mount and WILL eventually leak. Sometimes you can see the staining of the fluid on the mount, but really the telltale way is how low is the mount sitting in the housing. Below are before and after pics of my mount and the difference is pretty noticeable. The new mount in my car got rid of vibrations at certain RPMs as the engine works it way through its own harmonics.

Thanks for the information, but if the engine mount were truly faulty, the vibration would be in the front axle. Currently, the vibration is coming from the driver's side axle shaft. My question is, if the vibration is on the driver's side, it's unlikely the engine mount on the opposite side would be faulty. I'm definitely going to check it anyway. Thank you so much for your help; I'll keep you updated on the mount issue.

Well, I thought it might indeed be the engine mount; I checked and it's completely destroyed.

Yep, that mount has leaked out its fluid, you can see the marks from the fluid. That would allow your engine to tip down on the passenger side, which changes the angle of the output end of the trans and will load your CV joints differently than stock. It could certainly be the cause of your driver's side axle.

I was thinking of your vibration some more. If it is a tire/rim related issue, you could rotate your tires to see if the vibration follows a particular tire or if it stays the same. That would tell you if it is within the driveline or a tire/rim source. In either case, you need a new engine mount and can re-evaluate once a new mount is in place.

I ended up replacing the engine mount, but the vibration is still there. Where else can I look to find the source of this darn vibration?
