We have a 2016 F56 JCW with BC Racing BR coil overs and are using with manufacturer provided 5mm spacers in front. The track wheels (18x18) and tires (225/40/18) which were great with stock suspension rub on adjustment rings inside and fender cowling outside (so can’t space out further). Is anyone who has same coil overs running 18” wheels? What tire size are you using. Thanks.

I just got BC installed and have 18x8 et45 with 5mm spacer. 215/40/18 Conti DWS tires. No issues.

Good to know. I was hoping a tire width adjustment would solve, but didn’t want to buy a new set of tires and find out otherwise. Is yours an F56 hatch?

yes f56 hatch. in my opinion, a 18x7.5 wheel with 215 tires are best for our cars.

Then IDT the minuscule difference between those and 225/40 would matter

My 215 already rub a little at near stock alignment settings, so def 225 is gonna rub if you don’t adjust to a more aggressive camber setting.

Sorry, that is false information and a blanket statement that doesn't really mean anything.

1. How wide is your wheel. 2. What offset is the wheel 3. spacers? 4. Multiple people are running wheels BIGGER than mine just fine with JCW coilovers. Like Shmandrew here:

He's running 18x8.5 et42 with 225/40/18s dropped to the lowest JCW coilover setting. Obviously camber is adjusted. Who doesn't get an alignment after lowering a car

Wanted to get some opinions as well. Looking to get coilovers. Currently running 17x7 et42 225/45/17. Wondering if anyone knows if I'm going to have a lot of issues with lowering the car by 20-30mm with coilovers.

Just got Dinan coilovers. With a 0.75 inch drop the 225/45/17 tires rub inside on the spring. Doing a hard turn creates a noticeable noise as well. Guessing I'm going to have to go back to either 205 or try 215 when these tires wear out.

If you are just rubbing on the spring, then a spacer should take care of that...assuming your 'noticeable noise' isn't from outside interference of course. If you keep things as is, then I have a feeling your wait to go to a narrower tire won't take too long.

That is a pretty hefty spacer stack already, then I guess your 'best' bet is a narrower tire with your current coil overs.

My 225/45/17 fit ok on kwv3 but my wheels are 7.5” wide and Et 43, and my rubber was worn when wheels were swapped onto car
jcw 22 plate Goodyear asy6 and I’m also running 2 degrees of camber

Back on 205/45/17's still running the spacers. All is well.

Quick question since I was thinking about the Dinan coilovers and was a bit worried about fitment. When you were running 225s and had rubbing, what offset were your wheels and (if you know offhand) how much lower was the car compared to factory ride height?

I only ran 205's on the coilovers. The 225's I had on the stock suspension with a 42 offset using 12mm spacers. You need to run a similar offset or lower to compensate for the springs not rubbing against the inner tire.
