ECS Performance Adjustable Coilover System - F55/F56/F57 Gen 3 MINI

Looking to put coils on my 2021 Paddy Hopkirk Cooper S and was wondering if anyone has ever used these.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part.../002433la01~a/

In the past I went with H&R or KW Street on my VWs as I normally just like to drive this as my daily.

Lowering seems good and comes with a lot of kit for the price.
Also, Should I be replacing my Rear upper shock mounts? car is only at 29K for miles.

Thank you for the feedback!

I decided to pull the trigger and get these. I will respond back once I get them and let you all know what I think.

Let me know we have a guy local with and F55 MINI Cooper S we tested them on and he really likes them.
It has easy adjustable dampening in the back. At the top near the back upper mount. So you dont have to drop the rear suspension to adjust like the older Generation MINIs.

Sooooo, did you ever get these installed? I was thinking of trying the ECS Coilovers for my R58 but I can't find anyone with a review of them.

Not in the market as have Bilstein B16 on the car…but these (on paper) have some advantages…camber adjustable top hat ($500), front sway bar end links ($200 from NM) says has 32 levels of adjustment … 10 on Bilstein’s but that really doesn’t matter…they both have dampening/rebound adjustment.

Big advantage if these are quality is the price difference. Yeah if in the market I’d be curious about these from someone running them.

We have a guy running the F55/F56 production set and a prototype of the F54/F50 Set. So far they really like them. They are not really on social or forums so they dont review. Most of my customers are old school and dont post on the internet.

I just installed these, would have liked to have an install book- that or some type of guidance in the Box I noticed there's partial instructions pertaining to setting preload if desired in the website description. I have two questions - if I put them on without preload, would that be a problem.? And what's the reasoning for the shock and the spring having adjustability in the rear?

Hello,

Yep they follow the same install with other F56 coilovers. Hope to have a DIY install in the future on all of our ECS coilovers.

You are suppose to preload them a little. Otherwise you could get the noise of the spring knocking on the perch nut around under suspension travel at full lift off. In the rear the suspension is different as the suspension is more like VW/Merc with the separate shock and spring so they have adjustments when needed.

The rear you dampen out all the way after install and then dial in the dampening to your needed rate. This way you go soft and dial in the hardness. The factory F56 MINIs ride very soft from the factory compared to the Gen 1 and Gen 2 MINI. So when installing coilovers the ride set in the middle of dampening can sometime be too harsh for daily driving. Thus I recommend that. Hope that helps.

@ECSTuning I have a 2024 JCW F56 with DDC and want to purchase these. I know they say not for EDC/DDC but I don't want that to work anyway i just want to know if they will fit on my car. From what i've seen elsewhere on the newer 2020+ cars its all controlled magnettically not elecrtically so the car doesn't relize if the strut with DDC is removed.

Can you let me know what you think?

Should work on those ones that are 2020+ EDC (where their is no wire), we have not fitted them but based on the pin size it should work.

We had some people switch out the shock mounts to NON EDC and NON DDC to do the conversion. Its those EDC/DDC upper mounts that have the larger ID for the pre 2020.

F56 NON EDC mount kit. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...31306884184kt/ If you do it let us know what you find.

@ECSTuning Another question about the top bolt size on the rear strut. Prior to 2022 models with DDC had a M12 bolt at the top of rear strut connecting to the tophat and models without DDC had a M10.

What size does my 2024 JCW with DDC have? What size does the kit have?

You don't have electronic DDC so the top hats are the same as the non DDC cars. In 2021 they went from electronic to mechanical dynamic dampers. No delete kits no difference in top hats and so forth but with camber plates those top hats get removed anyway.

2021 to 2024 DDC is mechanical not electronic so no plugs, no different top hats for the struts. You can directly swap non-ddc coilovers on to the newer cars. Really easy.
