Megan Racing Lowering Springs

Does anyone have any experience with Megan Racing Lowering Springs?

These springs lower the car in the front: 0.5in and in the rear: 0.75in

I was thinking about pairing them with the Bilstein B8 SP Sports Shocks Kit.

What else would I need to lower a stock r56?

I'll take all the advice I can get and any recommendations if these aren't good springs/shocks.

Thanks

I found this thread about megan racing springs, take the info here as you will https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...g-springs.html

Personally I have the koni yellow + nm engineering springs, great combo

Can't really go wrong with nm engineering springs with the b8's i would guess. When lowering you'd probably want to get adjustable sway bar end links to avoid preload on the sway bars. And maybe adjustable rear lower control arms to manage the rear camber.

Thanks for the information! I keep hearing about the nm engineering springs.. Do you think that 1.2in drop would be too much for a Minnesota winter?

and you would recommend the koni yellows?

Koni yellows are awesome on twisty roads and the track, feels much more planted and responsive. However the ride quality is kinda bad on Cali highways and bad roads...some of the potholes and expansion joints really sound bad. Adjusting the front softness is straightforward but you'd have to remove the rear shocks to adjust, so I haven't done that at all.

Hard to say if it would be too much of a drop for winter, MINIs are kinda low already so we already snow plow

Megan springs are inexpensive, and the paint will maybe chip sooner than some more expensive options. Pretty mild as far as lowering goes.

For driving in winter? Depends on your driving style. I daily drove a lowered Miata for 4 years through winters in Connecticut, some winters with feet of snow on the ground. A good set of snow tires, and I wasn't going to get stuck, and I could drive circles around any SUV with all season tires. Now, I'm driving an R55 Clubman through Western NY winters lowered significantly on Megan Racing coilovers.

If I were you, and wanted minimal lowering, but a performance suspension, I would go with the Bilstein Cup kit:

I like the idea of going with the kit: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-bilstein...46-180469~bil/

is there anything less expensive? The only reason I'm asking is because I'm not really looking for huge performance improvements. More so for the aesthetic purposes

If you are only going for looks and cheap, the Godspeed springs are even less expensive than the Megan Racing...

Get those, put them on your existing struts, and go.

+1 if only for looks then you would be fine with springs only

I don't want to cause any premature wear and tear on my car because of using lowering springs with stock shocks.

I have Megan racing springs on my r53 they are definitely good for the money. I’ve put them on several other cars over the years and I’ve never had any issues .

Seriously, just get the Bilstein kit, along with the install kit from ECS, and you’ll be done
