Suspension What struts are good without breaking the bank
What struts are good without breaking the bank
Hi all, my 2011 MCS seems to have a harsh ride. I have to get the LCB changed 1st to be positive, but I think with 79k miles on the clock the struts might be done for.
While I getting the best out there, I can't afford or see myself paying 800.00 bucks for struts for a DD.
What struts can I use that a step or 2 above stock? I doubt Monroe are on the list.

If you are looking to improve the ride as well as handling the KONI FSDs are a great shock, and if you're looking to either lower the car or have a more spirited drive the KONI YELLOWS are a great entry level sport shock that is adjustable to your handling/ride needs.
Nothing generic from an autoparts store will do you much good on these cars. You can be into a set of stock shocks for around $550-600.
The KONIs will be going on sale in the next few months, at which point you can save nearly $200, so if you can hold out for awhile there are monetary savings coming.

Bilsteins aren't a bad option, we've installed a few sets of them.
The FSDs are selling for $821 right now, if you are able to hold off they will come down about $200 in a few months.
Personally I like the ride quality of the FSDs over the Bilsteins.

If you're not lowering the car the FSDs are the best bang for the buck. And they ride great.

I know they are a higher price than you want, but worth it as they do work and have a lifetime warranty.

I suggest Bilstein Touring class shocks/struts HERE. The fronts and rears are very economically priced (way less than $800+) and are a great direct replacement for your R56. They're also meant to work with OE springs. They provide a slightly stiffer ride and give you increased handling potential all while retaining a smooth ride. Let me know if you have any questions.
