Suspension Sports suspension plus Eibach springs
Sports suspension plus Eibach springs
My car already had factory fitted sports suspension and I've just replaced the OEM springs with Eibach springs. I was a little worried about how the ride might be now the car is lower but I'm very happy to say that the ride feels better - not quite as harsh as the std sport springs.

I think it might be just a touch higher as it's still settling after installation. Plus there was almost nothing in the car/fuel tank
An hour earlier it was also white - had not washed it for over 2 months so thought I better take a couple of pics before it's filthy again!!
H&R 12mm at the front and H&R 15mm at the rear (also bought longer bolts)

Any rubbing?
One last question (appreciate your time).....did you stagger the front and rear so they would both be at the same point on a plane, or do the rears stick out further than the fronts? (Hard to tell from your pictures).
Thanks!
Do you still have room to go wider if you wanted, or are you at the limit now with the drop?

You sure you've got Eibach springs on there? I just called them, and they said that they're still in prototyping, and that it's gonna be a while...
So are NM and H&R the only spring choices? I talked to NM, who are nice people, and gave me this info:
Stock rates: NM rates:
f 160 200
r 215 230
That's just for the standard suspension, and they didn't have info on the OEM SS. They certainly kept the rear mild, for less bounce... maybe that's a good thing. So I just wonder how this compares to the sport suspension. Using the +30% figure that some marketing info had at some point, the front NM is about as stiff as SS, and the rear sounds more mild. Makes sense.
H&R wouldn't give out rates.
If anyone has tried both springs on SS, let us know!

Huh. But he's in NY.
Also, the guy at Eibach went and checked with R&D, like they are the ones designing them there, and they're not done yet. So... I'm confused. Maybe he thought I meant the 4-door, although I'd be pretty surprised if those were any different from 3-door.

I bought my Eibach springs in Germany and had them shipped to NYC - they are clearly available on the Eibach website:

unless it changed after MY14 then the dampers are stiffer to match the sport springs
Yeah I remember reading that the shocks on SS were stiffer too. Ok actually I checked a parts catalog- there are 2 different shocks listed. One is like $10 more, and that's the part # on my shock. So yeah looks like they are different.

Back to Eibach... I wonder if US Eibach springs are different? Less stiff for our bad roads? Anyone see the rates listed anywhere?

Ok, found this post on another forum, from an Eibach US employee, when asked if US and European Eibach springs are different:
"Typically this is the case. At Eibach North America we do all of our designing and testing around USDM cars and produce the springs here for our market.
Eibach Germany also does their own testing, designing and production for European and Asian market cars. I believe all of the kits for these markets have to be TUV certified so the specs and part numbers will vary between our two markets. In some small cases we do share the same spring application."

The SS is stiffer sway bars to reduce understeer. The springs have different part numbers but aren't stiffer, neither are dampers.
Dampers have different part numbers too. And they sure feel stiffer. Pretty sure they are... If anyone wants to mic their standard springs, I'll mic my SS, and we'll know...
