Identify these adjustable end links (and pieces) ??

I recently purchased some used Vmaxx coilovers...yeah yeah, they are just going on a daily driver that sees 90% highway so whatever :-)

Anyway with the purchase he threw in some adjustable end links which I assume are the ones that come with the revised Vmaxx coilovers? The thing that is confusing me is he also gave me some "extensions" of sorts that he says are suppose to extend the stock front end links.

Well upon further investigation I noticed that the stock front end links are just a solid rod so there is no way these would work. If you look at the attached pic I am referring to the 2 rods in the center, they are both threaded on both sides.

I have only one guess as to what they may be then. I think maybe they are extenders for the adjustable end links in the picture? As such the adjustable links would be able to be installed in the front since they need to be longer?

I'm really at a loss as to what these are for. Also, I'm guessing the complete adjustable end links will be installed in the rear since they are shorter than the stock fronts?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

The only thing I can think of would be for you to cut the stock endlink in half and then use a die to thread the rod. Then you could thread the two ends into the extension. Not really sure.

Haha, I actually thought of that for a moment as well but even if I wanted to go through the trouble it wouldn't work because the stock end link rod is much skinnier than the threaded insert.

Thanks for the outside the box thinking though!

Or maybe they are actually to make the adjustable rods even shorter?? Take the existing ones apart and put the ends into the shorter rods? But that would be a hell of a short end link LOL.

Just thinking out loud for myself.

I guess I'll see for sure once I have everything off this weekend and get a chance to look at and measure things.

Also, I should install and adjust the end links while there is load on the suspension correct?

Thanks

I'm thinking that the pieces are part of a universal kit for various cars, hence a shorter end link.

Yes install with load (the wheels on the ground).

Thank you.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the small threaded rods?

And I have some rear adjustable control arms coming as well so rear camber will be fine. I read that when lowering, the front does not accrue much negative camber because of the design. Would I be ok without camber plates? I know I can adjust front and rear toe to 0 to reduce wear but I dont want to run too much camber up front either.

Thanks

Here is some good info from another recent post. Post #28 has a good set of instructions. Install them weighted and with your drivers seat weighted with enough weight to simulate you sitting there.

Thanks for the link. That will be helpful when installing the rear arms.

Negative camber in front decreases when lowering a MINI (or any car with a Mac-strut suspension. While you may still be within factory specs, additional negative camber will make the car handle better. Up to -2.5* will not increase tire wear.

Yeah I've lowered nearly all of my cars on coilovers (about 13 in total) and this is my first MacPherson strut vehicle so its a little different than what I'm use to. Pretty cool that I don't need any camber adjustment up front, saves money

I know more camber helps handling but being that this is a daily driver I am more concerned with tire wear. So about -1 degree all around with zero toe is good with me.
