Coilovers + Winter + R56 = ?!?!

So I have just gotten my H&R street coilovers and debating wether or not to install them right now, or wait for next summer and run the stock sport suspension during the winter.

To put you in perspective, I live in Quebec, Canada where winter really is a btch. Lots of snow, lots of -20, some -30, occasionally -40, lots of salt and calcium on the roads and lots of other inconvenient.

I'm worried about seizing the threads and damaging the shocks themselves.

What do you guys think ? Has anyone ran coilovers during the winter.

The stainless steel bodies should hold up to corrosion. You are still going to trash them in the winter and it will be really fun to clean them up again so you adjust them if needed. Coilovers are big money as it is and I still wouldn't be comfortable with running them through torture like this... yuck!

I'd be happy if you could prove me wrong but I don't think the H&R streets are stainless steel bodies.

H&R Street aren't stainless, they are coated. The RSS are stainless (pretty sure it stands for Race Stainless Steel actually)

I run my coilovers year round. Rochester (where I live) is probably not much different in terms on snowfall and salt. Its just like everything else with cars in in high snow/salt areas. Extra precautions and maintenance are required. Coat the threads in anti-sieze, inspect/clean the shock bodies yearly.

I run AST 5100 all year round on my DD. Sometimes I have problems being a surrogate for a snow plow. Otherwise, use the car wash often and spray down the suspension and undercarriage.

Btw, ss can still rust.

Forgot to mention, also dial down the rebound rates. Those potholes can be tough on the suspension.

Now I remember more about them.

Not sure they are a good choic for the snow being pretty low and not dampening adjustable.
