Powerflex or NM Torque Arm Bushings?

Hello All,
which brand should I go with because I have almost three weeks til I am going to Detroit Tuned for them to install my torque arm inserts. I just want to see what most people think is the better option. And I can't do it myself because my friends nor I have a jack:-(. Thank you and look forward to everyone's answers.

Hey there Rob,

I've had NM-engineering torque arm inserts at about 500 miles on my '09 MCS. 52,000 miles strong now Both are made from a polyurethane compound and I can't imagine one is better than the other. Whatever Chad has in stock just go with it. The only substantially different torque arm modification is to go with the BSH race setup. However, from what people have told me the compound is way too hard to make sense for a daily driver.

This is probably one of the best "bang for your buck" mods out there besides getting a fat rear sway bar. When you accelerate hard, the car will have less torque steer and be more predictable.

I'm looking into the Powerflex torque arm bushings as well but haven't been able to find any reviews. They are about half the price of the NM bushings which is nice. I've installed powerflex front control arm and rear trailing arm bushings on my M3 and there was no noticeable increase in NVH and gave the car a more planted feel. I'm thinking about taking a gamble and go with powerflex on the MCS.

I personally like NM products, but as Shane pointed out they both are polyurethane compound so you can go with either one. Good luck in your choice!

I just contacted wayward about the differences and he said the Powerflex torque arm bushings were too hard. So I may go with NM afterall.

Not bad at all. I've had my NM ones on for about 9K miles now and best money I've spent on a mod easily!

Great. How was the torque steer after install? Any increase in vibration or noise?

No torque steer after all that, but a little vibration added. That's because you have metal on metal now, not some padded material. But it's not that big of a deal, mostly on sport mode you can feel the vibration at idle. While your driving you can't feel anything. And in non-sport mode you don't feel much either. Let me know when you get it on and what you think as your first initial reaction.

I have to say that I installed this and I don't really feel that much change. I can tell the engine is moving a little less under the hood but I don't understand everyone saying this is a great bang for your buck mod. Its not expensive but the change was not drastic. I do feel more engine vibration. Not excessive though... As far as torque steer I did not really feel much to begin with. Possibly its reduced even more with it?

Interestingly I have some squeak from my engine that happens when I shut the car off. After installing this the engine vibration has changed in such a way that the squeak will now happen a good portion of the time at idle. If I turn the AC it changes the RPM just enough to change the vibration frequency and the squeak goes away.

I've had the NM insert and now the BSH street arm ,the BSH arm is better in control with very little vibration. Consider the cars you have though, for instance the JCW's make more power and need more control

I had the powerflex inserts, based on the reccomendation on WMW's website. I am pretty sensitive with vibration, and did not like them. I tried them two seperate times (second time for about 1200 miles), and sold them. I liked the difference in torque steer, especially with the AP. I have an auto, and with air the vibration was pretty signifcant at idle.

I can't reccomend the powerflex.

Mike

torque arm insert

I have the NM torque arm insert on my 2009 jcw, much less yo yo or rubber band effect between shifts for greater than 50K miles. Highly recommended
affordable mod and if you add a short shifter like the NM, driving and shifting
is more responsive and fun.
