Replacing Control Arm Bushing

I'm looking to replace the front control arm bushings on my 2003 MINI. I have the OEM style with the brackets from the dealer. At this point I would like to replace only the ones towards the rear of the car and looking to do this with out removing the complete arm. Is this possable? I see the sub frame must be lowered for bolt clearance, what a mess any help out there? Thanks, AL.

Yes search control arm bushing replacement. But basicly you disconnect the steering rack from the column and remove all the subframe bolts then pry it down and remove them.

FYI this thread you have posted in the 2nd gen forum, your 03 is a 1st gen car a mod. may move this.

I consicered removing the complete sub-frame and read the front bumper had to be removed and something about the core support . I'm looking into dropping the sub-frame and see if the bushing will come out, AL.

I did a search and didn't see anything on just lowering the sub-frame for removal, just complete removal, AL.

Separating The Lower Ball Joint

Separating The Lower Ball Joint at the steering knuckel, removed the to 13mm bolts and wouldn't separate. I'm looking into the press tool that separates the ball joint from the other end, any ideas? AL.

Control Arm Bushing Replacement

I did get the old worn out bushings off and the new ones on now need to finish the rest of the job. I admit I went about some of this backwards like not removing the sub-frame and installing the bushings on the control arms then installing the control arms on the car . I found my coolant leak wile doing the repairs and looks like a radaitor leak , It looks like another PITA repair and will need input from you guys when I start this new adventure , AL.

Reporting back, the front end work is done and went well thanks to you all and your support. I wanted a softer ride then the Power Flex offered and figured they would be fine on interstate roads but where I live out in the sticks OEM was the way to go, thanks again! Now to make a post on a coolant leak at the front left corner of the car, AL.
