NOOB Coilover question

Finally mustered up the ***** and time to do this diy, but I got no idea on how high i should tighten the perches. I'm right about to put the coilover in the hole thingy and I'm looking to decrease wheel gap and just get low. I've used the search button, but i think my question is just too noobie for it to be brought up.

I'm not looking for height suggestions, just wondering if the perches should at least touch the spring before i continue on. I've screwed the top hat on already, but if i'm doing it wrong, let me know

Any advice/admonishing/replies are welcome...

Have them all equal, measure, if you count threads you may be off by a mm or 2. if the spring isnt touching the perches then it might be slammed when you put the car on the ground. Good coil overs come with an initial static worksheet, i think you can find em offline too. That dont have to touch the perches but like i sai it might be uber low when you put it on the ground.

The technical measuring point should be from the perch to the center bore of the control arm mounting point. you can get a good reading by using a pin or the bolt itself to creat a point of reference. Then once all of them are at equal measurements then your adjustments can be made by placing a pieace of tape on the same location of the coilover unit and measuring to there. Always make your adjustments with no load on the coil.
