Drop Zone lowering springs

Alright so I got these drop zone lowering springs off ebay for like $110 shipped. I just wanted to lower the car, wasn't concerned about much else. I had low expectations for these springs. Well I rented a spring compressor from kragen today and spent about 5.5 hours putting them on today. I got in my now lowered mini, and to my pleasant surprise, find these springs to be sweet! Obviously it rides pretty bad compared to stock, it has lowering springs. But it did lower the car a little over an inch, and they are quite a bit stiffer than stock. Believe it or not, these springs are awesome! Check em out on ebay, I don't think you'll regret it... as long as you don't have a bad back and also as long as you don't drive on super bumpy roads. The front will settle a little more too I think, so this thing is gonna be pretty low. Plus I have 15'' wheels haha! anyways I'm happy with the springs, and you can't beat the price!

So what exactly is sweet about the springs? Just the look?

...the price sounds pretty sweet.

...that doesn't though.

...I've read others report that some (more costly) springs ride better than stock.
...I tried searching on this forum...not coming up with others reports on these drop zones though.
..anyone?

I spend most of my time inside the car, in the driver's seat, so looks are nowhere near as important as ride and handling. Spending a little extra cash to have the car feel good rather than just look good is worth it IMO. Bottom line though, you just can't lower these cars on just springs a lot and expect good ride and handling on real world roads. My car is on lowering springs that lower like 10mm, and I love it. The car feels great. Looks fine to me, but drives awesome.

I'm not crapping on anyone's purchase, if looks really are that important to you and you have a limited budget, go for it. Different strokes.

agree, ...makes perfect sense.

but I'm wondering about these drop zones...in comparison to other common and popular spring brands that folks on here talk about..and are pleased with...used either with stock...or upgraded dampers.

..searched, but not coming up with much on them, ...is it fairly recent that this company has made them for Mini?

..a really low price does tend to make folks wonder about quality, but then again...I read comments that talk about the low quality of the Mini stock springs/suspension

For $100 it's a cheap experiment. If OP is enjoying them, that's awesome.

Personally I'm leaning H&R. TSW doesn't drop enough for me and I'm worried about weird stance with them too.

Agree! I applaud the kid for taking the time and effort to do the job himself. There's a bunch of people on these forums who would never undertake this task..Geesh! Give him a break.

wow i really screwed the pooch on this thread... my bad. i will have pics up some time soon (im always really lame about taking pics of my car). I have had them for a month now.. still love the ***** out of them. And yes I have done many dumb things, this purchase was not one of them. The only springs out there that will ride better than stock are gonna be tsw's, which are almost 3 times the price of these things. And I love them because they make the car handle flipping great! I have driven highway, town, backroads, dirt. No complaints from my 17 year old back/a$$. Obviously i'm not super concerned with ride comfort. It does get a bit bouncy when there is consistent bumps (braking bumps), but they feel great otherwise. I do not know the spring rates... nor do i care. they are significantly stiffer than stock, the suspension doesn't move much when you climb in it. And I searched all over, couldn't find anyone running them. But how can you go wrong with lowering springs? In hindsight, the apex springs may be better, at about the same price. But I'm very happy with these. They're also red! so awesome. haha no but seriously, i know haters will hate. But I love these springs. They have a lot more drop then i imagined... since I'm on 15's, i am pretty low to the ground. I can prop my phone up on my front bumper. Overall I am very happy with my springs. And they are girlfriend approved. Yes, that's right. Even my mom approved the ride qaulity. And I don't see why someone would be afraid to do the install... its pretty simple. Just takes a bit of time. Anyways I reccomend these springs to anyone looking for some cheap upgrades. I have found that many of the "bad" cheap parts really aren't so bad, I consider these springs as one of these "bad" parts, meaning they really are a great deal. give a really nice stance too, kind of like the stock mini stance, rear end a bit higher than front, but the front is super low and the wheelgap is eqaul for all 4 wheels. big thumbs up for these springs.

For sure he is Happy, and as someone else posted not many would give this a DIY at any age. I also would like to see pictures. 1 thing I would say to keep in mind however, is he is running 15 inch wheels, which I am guessing is a 55 to 60 aspect ratio? if it is with that I am thinking it may be really stiff for those running 45s and lower, some of us experienced drivers ( that is a nice way of saying older by the way) may not be able to handle that type of ride comfort. Have to give the young adult a thumbs up here, 1 for trying, and 1 for staying with in his means.
