Suspension help to decide suspension options
help to decide suspension options
I'm trying to keep my mcs on sort of a controlled budget. I spend the coin and buy the unobtanium on my racebikes
My 2 options for my budget are:
Megan Street Coilovers - $844.06 shipped
Koni Sport Suspension kit - $667 plus shipping
I'm leaning towards the megans because:
they are ride height, rebound and compression adjustable - which would be great for corner balancing. Also they come with an adjustable camber plates. and later on, if i wanted to I could upgrade to swift springs.
what holds me back on the megans is the overall build quality - basically I don't want to have to rebuild the suspension every year!
The koni kit is cheaper and I'm sure comes with koni quality but is only adjustable in terms of a single **** adjuster for "soft" or "firm" - basically I can't screw it up and its easy as cake and I can be lazy.
I do 90% street driving with occasional track days for fun.

I have the Koni Sprt Suspension on my car.
To me, it is the best suspension out there.
The ride and comfort on the car is perfect.
The spring rates are dead on.
If you want to waste money on coilovers you can.
Most people would not feel a change in rebound or compression damping if you gave them a book.
The only thing coilovers have is ride height.
The Koni's do drop a little ride height.

Well my goal is to be able to corner balance - and to accomplish that the suspension needs to be able to adjust ride height.
As far as lowering that's not my goal - I actually think the ride height is fine
Good to know feedback.

Get the KONI's, quality, and durrability mean more than a corner balance on a DD street car.
Just an FYI, a 5psi differance in tire pressure can throw off a corner balance, your tires can change that mutch between hot and cold.

I really like my Megans, but just to clarify, there is only one adjustment **** on them. It controls the rebound and compression circuits together. Even so, I like mine.

I would not expect a large handling increase with Megans, the dampers are quite poor quality.
Yes they have more 'adjustment' but if you look at a shock dyno of a pair you will see there is really only one area that works properly in the entire adjustment range.
If you want to lower your car on a budget they are great for that.

Yeah, you need to take the shocks out of the car to adjust the rears. I have my rears set right in the middle and the fronts slightly stiffer than middle.
Just a quick side question, does one have to get a rear wheel alignment when removing the rear shocks to adjust them? I dont think so, but I'd thought I ask...
