Suspension New Conti Extreme Contact DWS
New Conti Extreme Contact DWS
I recently switched from the Conti runflats to the Conti ExtremeContact DWS and they are awesome. Went a little larger with 205/55 ZR16. I think the larger tire looks better and the car is on rails. I would not have believed the difference before running a couple of thousand miles but it is nothing short of amazing.

It was a toss-up for me. I went with the RE 960. Reading the reviews, the Conti is a really solid contender and a great tire. About time. They say it is better in the snow, but the Bridgestone is better in the dry by a split hair margin. I had the 960's on my RSX and loved them, so I went with what I know. (205's of course).
These are the kind of tires that should be on everyones car to start with. Much safer, much more enjoyable to drive. How the manufacturers get away with the garbage they put on cars is beyond me. The tire is half of the suspension and 90 percent of braking.
The tire does not fix the buck-board problem. That is the SHOCKS. As you can read in the forum, a set of FSD's or HD's will solve the problem. The tires make it quieter, less harsh, and tons more grip. They do slow down the steering reaction a tad. That is the only good point I have on the run flats, super quick response. If they ever make one as good as the two tires being discussed here, I would go for them so I did not have to have a tire where my back seat used to be.

I also went with Conti DWS after having Conti Runflates. I do like them but the steering response is slower. I take my car to the track regularly and for that I have a set of Yokohama S-Drive. The S-Drive steering response is awesome. Even better than Runflats. The downside? They are noisy. But on the track, who cares?
But I agree, the Conti DWS is a top drawer tire. EXCELLENT in the rain.

I put on a set of Continental DSW Extreme Contact 215/45/17's two weeks ago. After 21k miles I got rid of the runflats. The improvement in the ride is amazing. I took my seven year old cocker spaniel for a four hundred mile round trip ride last weekend. With the runflats he was always uncomfortable on the concrete paved over PA Turnpike. With the new DWS tires, for the most part he slept, just raising his head with the worst bumps. Thanks to everyone with the posts in the tire section who recommended these tires!
