Suspension Which coilovers that are sporty, yet quite comfortable over really bumpy roads?

The roads here are horrendous with all the construction and upgrades going on.

The BC racing which I have now, are far too stiff and almost whiplash-like. On a track they fit the bill, but I don't spend too much time there as of late.

Any suggestions? Not that worried about the drop, so long as it's lower than OEM. I am not one for slammed at all.

Adjustable yes, but many say that the valving isn't very good and with short travel it's not so nice on non-smooth roads. So adjustable from "not very good" to "really bad." My experience with them on is on Subaru STIs, not Minis. I'd imagine they're similar, after all they use the same exact damper insert for Subaru Impreza, Legacy, and Mitsubishi EVO...

Roads are pretty bumpy here too. European coilovers like KW' or Bislteins do much better and give up nothing in terms of handling. Usually a little more money though.

Thanks Graham, do you know how much of an improvement it would be? I'd hate to fork out a little bit to find out I'm still not 100% happy. Would rather put that into new coilovers and get what I want first time. Saves me time and effort (although not money ).

Anybody with experience with these? AST 5100

I can't really compare to stock cause it's been so long since I was on stock suspension that I don't really remember what it felt like. However, as long as you're not dumped the PSS9s are comfortable.

Talk to Jeff (TSW) further about your needs.

Very good friend has KW V2 ($1700ish) and they are VERY nice coilovers. He now has the AST rear upper mounts and complains about the ride being very stiff and slightly "jarie". But he keeps things on the stiff side as he prefers the better handling. FYI he has the TSW/Vorshlag plates up front.

I don't mean to sound like a salesman but run swift springs on your current setup. You can even use the same rates. If you want to go lower you can. But it makes a huge difference.

It's the cheaper alternative as well.
