ALTA control arm bush

Has anyone fitted the ALTA front control arm "steering response" set? Does it help directional stability when you hit a sharp bump?
Street driver, trying to add some poise to the car. Ordering some Bilsteins today I think.

Never mind. Bad catalog. They are shown in parts available for the R56, but not really. Don't fit. I do see some poly bushings available.

I'm wrong again, they do fit. Just a bad reseller web page.

So my original question stands. Or, would the poly be a better street solution?

Comparing my R56 with ALTAs to my friend's R53 with poly, I like the Altas better for response, but NVH is much higher on the ALTAs. The ALTAs are tricky to install (some go so far as to tack weld them into the knuckles) and (in theory) will require the occasional cleaning.

The poly is a better street solution.

I've had mine on my 06 GP for about 20k and have not needed to clean them. Our PSRS system is definitely a more direct and more positive feel than poly bushings. The PSRS system does help to eliminate wandering in the ruts on the freeway and helps keep the wheel pointed where you want it when you hit bumps as the wheel has less tendancy to move around in the control arm.

I like the Alta PSRS bushing.
The steering is firmer quicker and you have a lot more feel.

The down side is all the above.

I had no problems installing.

The bump impact darting is the problem I want to address. But for long term street use, I have never been happy with solid mounts. For me, I think the half-way solution of Poly sounds about right. I had enough of rock hard suspensions in my younger days and older cars. I think I'll see what the BIlstiens and camber plates do first.

Trying to understand how the ALTA adds camber without a change to the front mount. You are pushing the arm forward. How is that distance taken care of up front? Or are you taking the arm outboard and effectivly swinging it around the front. Either way, some effect on the tie rods I guess.

These bushings will add NVH, but your car will benefit of much better steering feel! This modification by itself won't make the suspension rock hard, but you will be able to feel and hear small imperfections in the road more than before.

The PSRS actually doesn't add camber, it adds caster! It does that by moving the location of the control arm slightly.

ALTA Chris, yes, I meant caster. I can see changing the pivot position could push the arm forward. What does this do the the front mounting point? Or, if it offsets it outward, it would rotate the ball joint position forward and around the front mount. Just kind of wondering. I am guessing we are talking in the eigth of an inch or so range.

CH, in their defense, you are putting race parts on a street car and thinking they should hold up like factory street ones. I would not expect that. But I do agree, it does look like the joints they used on the bars have less that expected plating. ( Lets take odds on them being Chinese in origin) Either go order yourself a set of Aurora ends, or get a can of Extend. Also consider a lot of factory parts are raw steel or iron and rust too.
Any good online speed shop should have them for about $15 each or so. Don't forget to get external seal flaps. I think Pete's Hot Rod has them. Or go to sealed ends like Hirshmann. Fluro makes a rubber cap. Myself, I am looking at the TSW arms that have hard rubber bushings. Street car you know.
