BC Coilover Noises

Just installed the BC coilovers (w/ swiift spring) and TSW control arms and it's been making 'thunking' noises sometimes when I go up ramps. Is this normal? Never had any experience with suspension work.

Could be your pillow ball mounts or maybe your height adjustment perches aren't tight.

I've attached some pictures. The sound seems to happen going down my apartment garage ramps more often then going up (i.e. does it more "decompressing?" than "compressing?"). I only took pictures of the driver side front because 1) sounds seems to be coming from front and 2) the jackpoint on my passenger side is gone...

BC's and Megan's tend to have poor quality pillowball mounts...the spherical bearings can make noise as they wear out (which can happen fast).

How can I tell? Would that explain the thumping/popping sound I hear when I go down ramps?

Check all the bolts and make sure everything is tight.

That too. Not all BC's or megans make noise, so it could just be a loose nut somewhere.

The you described it, i think it could be either one.

Common cause for this noise is the large nut securing the strut shaft to the top plate. Make sure it's tight.

try checking the bolts on the front sway bar & endlinks. i used to have a clunking sound in the front when going up/down ramps with an angle.turned out that one of the nuts in the swaybar wasn't tight enough

X2 On this. Good friend had been chasing a noise in his front suspension for some time, and i finally was allowed to get in and check everything. The swaybar endlinks on the pass front was slightly loose, and was causing the noise. Now mind you, it was 'tight' but just needed that extra umph to make it quiet.

I am sure this is less likely with high quality Swift springs, but when I ran TSW springs before going to BC Coilovers, I had 1 coil binding on the passenger side which caused a loud thunk noise when I hit certain types of bumps only.

Check for markings on the coating of the spring, see if there is any rubbing/chipping/ETC.
