spacers and lug bolt conversions... a few questions
I have a general idea as to why someone would want to buy spacers for their car. correct me if i am wrong.
for one, if you purchase wheels that are fat, you dont want them to rub so you add spacers. Also, if you upgrade your suspension, a way to prevent rubbage is also to use spacers. spacers also lengthen your "stance" placing your wheels further apart from each other possibly helping with cornering?
this is all great but.... my question is
Is there a way to buy a spacer that converts the mini 4 by 100 lug bolt pattern to a 5 bolt pattern? I feel this will give a lot more flexability for consumers to purchase more types of wheels without being restricted by lug bolt patterns.
in particular, im looking for a reputable company that converts the 4x100 to 5x100

spacers go between the rotor and your wheel, effectively moving the wheel outward from the car. i needed a 5mm spacer after installing coilovers because the tire was rubbing against the strut body. your rotors and hub are set up for 4x100. spacers have nothing to do with 4 vs. 5x100, although if you go to 5x100 (and i don't think you need to, many here tracking and autocrossing with 4x100) you will need spacers that accommodate that arrangement.

I echo what the others have said....unless you are looking for a super rare wheel, you can generally find it in 4x100 or just have the wheel re-drilled to 4x100 (that's what I did)

What is the max thickness (width) they can be? I did some figuring and 4x100 to 5x100 is real close. Two holes almost overlap but maybe doable. The thicker the adapter is, the better.

I'm not sure about that...
I think konky, midnite, jeff, and I are the only ones on M|U who've run 5 lug wheels.

4 lug to 5 lug single piece adapters are hard to come by. In all honesty, I don't think I've ever seen one. Usually, you'll need a 2 piece adapter to accomplish this. But minimum total thickness of the 2 pieces together will be around 40mm. Not very practical unless you're using a relatively narrow wheel with a very high offset.
Hey Rally... How'd you run the 5 lug? Did you do a conversion or use an adapter?

Ben-ja-min , I am running H&R 15mm spacers on front and read. You won't have any rubbing issues with these. I took the wheels offsets on the Hammon Mini's wheels as a template of stance and calculated my factory crown wheels offset and add the spacers to make it the same offset as the Hammon 18x8.5 wheels. Looks great.
