Hi NAMmembers,
Before 3 days ago I went to a tuning shop and I found there a set of GP JCW suspension with 3100 miles. Can I install this suspension on my car MCS 06 without any problem? as I know JCW suspension is made especially for different VIN duo to wight.
The sunroof imapct is really overrated, imo. I think the consensus is that the SR adds about 50lbs to the total weight of the car. The differences between driver weights are often greater than that of a sunroof. GBMINI (the man), for example, is not exactly... svelte, while you may be quite slim. I would snap it up if the price is right and you are looking for a good handling suspension and are not looking to lower your car much. I enjoyed my JCW suspension immensely for nearly 90k miles and never regreted the swap.
Do the aluminum trailing arms on the GP have the same cone insert requirements as the R56 aluminum trailing arms? If so, you'll need to cut off the built-in insert on the GP rear damper bottom mount to fit the GP damper to your steel trailing arm and have the correct damper alignment. Just something to keep an eye out for.
But again, on a 2600lb car, the differences we are talking about are just noise. I think Ryephile's point on the rear damper compatibility is the most important thing to consider.
I dare any of you to do a blind drive test and tell the difference between a car with and a car without a sunroof.
I generally feel like I can tell the difference in acceleration when there is a passenger in my ~260hp ~3000lb Mustang, so a difference of 100lb+ in a ~118hp ~2500lb MINI, I *might* be able to tell the difference, because the low horsepower and light weight magnify the percentage difference in acceleration seen by any given amount of weight.
For instance, add 100lb to a 2hp 200lb GoKart... then add 100lb to a 6000lb Supercharged H2.
I think the 100lb added to the GoKart will be more noticeable!
Then again, maybe I *think* I feel the difference in my Mustang because I know someone is in the car with me.
