Suspension Swift Springs dynoed
The spring rate he is quoting is relatively Mild.. I Daily Drive with a much higher rate as it is - and it is already a better ride than stock!
I wouldn't shy away from them at the price he is offering

Exactly.. I am at 8/7 and doing just fine - going 10/8 here with the help of this thread.
I just don't want to make lowering springs with the Swift name be just for the cool looks of being lowered, if thats the case any other lowering springs will do. Im doing this for the performance oriented drivers, that want nothing but the best for their cars.
These springs will still be very streetable. They will be made with streetability in mind, but the option to take it to the track with a competitive feel to it.

I'll be able to make a decision when we have final prices, rates and information on how they'd work with specific shocks for track use.
Found this on the subaru forums to help people with the kg-lb conversion if needed:
"Here's the math (1kg/mm)*(25.4mm/1in)*(2.2lb/1kg) => 1 kg/mm = 55.88 lb/in
For quick reference:
4k = 224 lb/in
5k = 279 lb/in
6k = 335 lb/in
7k = 391 lb/in
8k = 447 lb/in
9k = 503 lb/in
10k = 559 lb/in"
So would 24 lb/in over the TSW really make a difference? I have NO idea. Anyone? Will these be the same rates front and rear?
mb
I would hope they are doing a firmer in the rear............
I just noticed that we are under the 1st gen MINI....section....does that mean I am SOL for the 2nd gen R56?

It's not all about being as stiff as possible. I have to keep in mind the life of the OEM shock as well. These are as stiff as they can be without the "need" of getting performance shocks. Or else it would defeat the purpose of a cheap alternative for track like suspension. If one were to purchase lowering springs and performance shocks, it would be as much as just getting cheaper megan or BC brand coilovers.
But it's up to you guys. let me know what you think. I can do the math and figure out other rates.

I'd consider them more seriously if they'd mate up better to an aftermarket shock as I'm in the market for both and not just a spring. I'd want it to fit together nicely, so if I can do all of that for under a grand, then I will. If not, then I'll just bite the bullet and get a set of CO's.
And thank you for being so forthright in this thread (ninjlao) - people like me need to be taught stuff like the fact that if springs are too stiff they'll kill the stock shocks...

While I'm not looking for springs, I just wanted to make a comment or share an opinion.
Forget about pairing to stock shocks. Most of the stock shocks are pretty tired by 40k miles and pretty much all of the R50 and R53 is already up there in terms of mileage. The stock shocks are OK for street driving but for track driving the Konis and Bilsteins perform so much better.
Its up to you what usage you want to design these springs for. There are already so many options on the market.
Yes they will work on the FSD. anything that uses the stock springs will work.
I talked to them, and we decided that when we go through with this group buy, that they are going to make several sets with different spring rates and have a professional driver test out all the different rates and have him choose out the rates with the most amount of control and feel to them. I decided that, that will be the best setup. So the spring rates will range from 4.5-7kg, I will let the driver decide. Let me know what you guys think.

No problem, let me know how you like em!
I just got a birthday gift of ~$200 to spend on my MINI. I found this thread as I am looking for some lowering springs. I do want to lower for looks, but I want performance. These sound like they fit the bill as long as they can go on stock 2005 non-s model.
So put me on the list if that is doable.
