Your MCS coilover reference thread. Pictures and info

OK guys I think with all of the talk about coilovers lately and all of the past threads we need to create one of these threads to compile all of the info in and have the mods sticky it for everyone

I'm pretty sure most coilover companies will supply any spring rate you ask without an extra fee...

Thanks for the pic and info...
Lets keep it coming

I will try to post prices soon as well...I will try and find an average off of the market, not the M.S.R.P.

Also, feel free to post any impressions and experiences with the coilovers

The more info, the better the thread becomes.

Is it possible to get some sort of chart that can show how many people have certain coilovers? Like a poll that shows the results as a bar graph or similar?

We could have a poll...I would have to talk to mark and see how to get it done...I really want to focus on the coilovers themselves(price, options-camber plates-height adjustable..., drop, spring rates, etc...). I think that if we would just have impressions from users along with the info provided and some pics it would be perfect, but I will see what I can do for a poll

This is all a very good effort done by ChrisMCS04 and I thank you for starting it. It would be nice to see the coil overs with info and pictures of the rides. On the other hand, I believe that there is a great feature on this site, which is the Products Review.
In the past few months I liked using that part of the site more and more due to the ability to read a more focused review on the product itself without having to read about lots of other things that are not related. The rating is great too and direct pros and cons really seal the deal. Currently the only CO review is on the Megans... and they rate around 9 or more, which is great value for the money. We could encourage people to use that section of the site more for easy and direct accessibility for everyone

Again, thanks ChrisMCS04

Good call on this thread Chris. I'll be sure to post my impressions on the PSS9's once I get them on the car.

Also, you could add the Bilstein PSS. I hadn't heard about it till I went on the site but maybe someone here has them. It's basically a "stage 1" coilover, no damper adjustability, just ride height.

Cool will check it out and add it to the list...
I know there is a spring thread, but I wanted strictly coilovers in here...
Does not matter how simple or complex...just has to be a coilover

Megan coilovers: 2nd version 1.5" drop 8kg/6kg. 0 to 32 dampening rates.

In this picture you can see the colars stacked on top of each other in order to achieve the 1.5 inch drop. Megan offers a different shorter spring/shock allowing for close to a 2.0 inch drop which you can be seen in this photo.

Cross coil overs: .drop 0.5 to 2.5 inch drop, optional spring rates. 8kg/6kg or 7kg/4kg. 0 to 15 damping rates.

In this picture you can see that the Cross system can go quite low. There was still at least a 1/2 inch that they could be droped .

End result !

Sweet
I know that they make a PSS system, but did not think that they had one for our cars...
A buddy has a Cranberry Red GTI VR6 with a stage 3 VF supercharger kit on it dropped on PSS's

Thank you for the compliments. I really like you car too!

I think I am going to start limiting the pics at the top to one or two for each type...I will post one of yours up top, but it will be later today
Any info on the spring rates?

I see EXACTLY what is causing the lack of drop if you look at the difference between the McPherson braket the Megan is REALLY tall and the Cross is at the minimum which is what I am thinking about doing to mine is take it to a pipe saw and cut about 3 inches off the top of the bracket which i see no need because the threads aren't at the top they are near the bottom.

Also, here is the best price on the RSS kit:
http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...7.2&perfCode=A

$1,209 at Tire Rack. They have had that same price forever.

Nice job on the price too!
