Suspension TSW R56 springs - coming soon
Very interesting.
Are you going to do another test installation and a 1000 mile test with the new springs with your intended update to the static length?
I imagine these springs will be in black or red powder coat?
Any idea of the retail cost or is it two early to disclose?
Thank you,
Don

We should not have to do another full test session, no, but a lot of that has to do with how much confidence the spring dude has in his ability to deliver the same thing we have now with a slightly shorter static length... He's working through the rest of the numbers now.
Price should be in line with our R50/R53 springs, we think...
And, gloss black's the color they're going to come in...

Good news - the spring guy says he can nail the static length delta with no changes to rates. So, we're ordering 50 sets today, to start...
Should be 3-4 weeks before they're in our grubby hands.

This is Scott, but I'll relay the message...
Oh, and it's proven that a TSW t-shirt reduces lap times by 0.6 seconds!
(I wish that would have worked for me this past weekend... doh!)

You need one of those new design shirts Scott. That old threadbare one you had on caught the wind and acted like a parachute. Hence the missing 0.6 seconds or so.

Woo Hooo!
Forgive me as I'm a first time MINI owner and I've spent 3 months loitering this website.
Will the springs that are undergoing testing be a fit for the Clubman? I suspect not but I have to ask. If not, I assume a Clubman variation is many months down the road (if at all).
Curious, as I am looking to improve the daily commute with the 17" Konig's (non-Runflats).

Final pics will be taken here in a couple of weeks once we get the production versions in our hands...
Some test data from this weekend at Eagles Canyon raceway - GPS datalogging showed our test mule picked up 5 mph in average speed around the track on our springs versus OEM!!! On a 2.5 mile track, that's HUGE! And, this is on our prototype springs that ended up back at stock ride height!!! I'd figure the change in ride height will net another gain...
Also, camber plates are coming soon... Should be available mid-November, just in time for holiday shopping!

Camber plates aren't necessary... I would recommend an alignment after installation - I would also recommend that before the alignment, you pull the locator pins from the upper strut mounts, loosen all 3 strut nuts, jack up the car and push the top of the strut mount as far inboard as you can and lock it back down... You should be able to pick up ~0.5 degrees of additional negative camber that way. For many people, this is a cheap, easy way to get a bit more negative camber in the front on the R56.
If you do any autocross or track days, or if you just wanna go faster through the twisties, camber plates would be recommended (heck that goes for any application, though!).

Production springs are arriving today... We'll be doing a final fitment tomorrow @ 1PM and I'll post pics immediately afterwards. Assuming the final production version meets specs, these will be up tomorrow evening for purchase...
I assume that means that the ones I already paid for will ship early next week?
Assuming the specs check out of course
