Suspension TSW R56 springs - coming soon

Went down to my friends shop today and started talking about the TSW R56 Springs I ordered.

Next thing you know he had me ordering a set for his 09 JCW with base suspension. I showed him Scott's posting above, ^^^^
We will install mine first, then if he likes the changes on mine his will go on. Can't wait.
Feedback from another local who picked his springs up on Friday and installed them over the weekend (JCW car with regular (non-sport and non-JCW) suspension):
"I put the springs on today. You were not kidding, what a difference; it is
a whole new car. The car rides so much better. No more rear end squat on
tack off, and cornering is much flatter. Feels like the weight transfer in
corners is much more predictable, which was one of my biggest complaints
with the OEM springs."

Does your other customer have some pictures of his new installation or did you get a snap or two?
Thanks,
Don
Pretty sure those are exactly backwards...
I still expect the front to settle in just a tad bit more, too. This is also on 16" OEM wheels with OEM RFT's... Mike, can you tell us how many miles on on the setup now? Maybe ~200?

Obviously I am picture posting challenged. Scott has it right. The after pic is with only 37 miles from TSW WHQ to my driveway. The back has settled a smidge more, the front is settling nicely, I'm now at 250 miles. More pics tomorrow.
My springs came today, they look good. It will be a couple weekends before I get the chance to get them installed.
Looking forward to seeing some more pictures of the two TXs MINIs. I will post some before and after of my installation in a couple of weeks.

So I installed my springs on Sunday and I have been driving the car all week. I am very happy with these springs, and highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their suspension.
I plan on sending Jeff and Scott a couple of pictures this weekend after the springs have a little more time to settle.
TSW Rocks... Springs installed... 1st Impressions
Much Props to TSW... Shipped as promissed on Monday... Arived this AM... on the Car already... No More H&R Blues
Initial impressions:
Only Driven about 10 Miles, so I would expect them to feel even better with break in, but So Far... An outstanding as anticipated Product!
Car feels much more Linear no punn intended... Than with H&R's... rides 100% better, and feels smoother and closer to an "OEM esq " setup... but with the added bonus of a performance edge... nice and flat in the corners... much less bump steer, and over all a more compliant and confidence boosting feel...
Ride height:
I am riding on 18's with 35 series tires and was a little concerned that the car would appear too high, but I think it will be just right once it settles... as of now, the rears looks perfect IMO, and the front is actually ridding a bit higher... but as stated I have only put on like 10 miles.. and based on the aformentioned settling of 1/4-3/8 of an inch after a couple hundered miles I think it will be the absolute perfect compromise of performance, ride height, and quality for a non Coilover setup...
In Summary Thanks again to TSW For taking their time doing the R&D, offering a quality product at a reasonable price ...and most importantly getting it right!
Updates to come with photo's in a couple hundered miles!

Tell us a bit more about your JCW? I presume it is the 09 JCW factory car and not a MCS/JCW....
Looking forward to your pictures and LACooperS's pictures, it will be nice to see how the springs look on everyone's MINIs.
Mine will go on after next Tuesday if the shop has a slow day or next Saturday the 15th. We shall see, since slow days seem to be the norm.
Not my shop, but I get rack usage.
Scott- Thanks. They arrived yesterday.
Can someone tell me how long it takes to install 4 springs and alignment? And what cost? This is a fully capable shop, lifts and all. I was quoted $425 plus $95 for alignment. Thanks.

Where are you located... If in LA, my buddies shop where I had mine done will install for half that(also fully professional)... took about 2 hours... you'll be on your own for alignment, but about a 100 bucks is going rate at any of the shops I would use... I would wait at least a couple hundered miles before doing that anyway though as it is best to do after the springs really settle in!
We can do it now in 40 minutes flat... 1 hour max...
At most, a shop should quote 2 hours of labor, IMHO. In most places, that means $160 - $240. $425 seems a bit steep to me!
It's really quite a simple process to undertake - a $20 set of ratchet straps from Home Depot and simple hand tools (1/2" ratchet, metric sockets and metric wrenches) are all it takes.

they both seem very steep in price also.
should I go to a regular shop to install the springs? is it that hard or are they charging so much for no reason?

USD400 is far too expensive, and USD500 is a joke.
Any more than 300 and people are starting to rip you off. The most expensive quote i could get from one of the top suspension shops over here in melbourne was ~USD300 including alignment

Thanks for the replies. I'm in NYC suburbia. That's why it's so much $. I'm going to have a friend do it, I think. Next weekend. Can't wait, I'm itching to get them on.
I'd still love to see a "settled in" picture of a car with these springs. The pics after initial install look very promising.
One question for those who've already done this install: Did you notice any reduction in torque steer? I've read elsewhere on this forum that lowering springs have a side benefit of reduced torque steer.

Got about 120 mi so far, and they are settling in perfectly ... Ride is improving daily, and look is too!
I will post pics in the next couple days when I hit about 200 miles...
and yes absolutely a noticeable reduction in torque steer!

Hi Codeslinger, it was your quote that sold a 2nd set for my friends 09 JCW.

You are correct, I have an 09 factory JCW.
I'm sorry I have not posted pictures yet. The Metorplex Mini Club met this weekend, so I took the opportunity to meet the group and talk to the TSW guys. It is a little rainy today, so I do not know if I can get any good shots. I will try to have some picture posted later today or tomorrow.

Buy Rahr beer if it's in your area, good stuff.
