Good to see everything is working out with the supplier. Looking forward to seeing the new springs and getting them installed.

Now, how is your adjustable camber plates for the R56 coming along?

Design is done... The top plates are getting in the queue for laser cutting. Then, they get plated.

Last bit will be testing... And then, release!

Welp, Jeff is back from the supplier and all shipments of replacement front springs are ON THEIR WAY to those who already purchased... There is a return label (UPS) in the box that you can use to return the bogus front springs - use either your original box or the one you will receive for the return. Just slap the label on it and drop it off at a UPS store! If you were waiting on an order, your order will have the modified front springs in them.

The better news is that Jeff stood there and helped them fix ALL of the initial run, so we have plenty of sets back in stock!!! Jeff also QA'ed all sets on site, to ensure the upper winding is in spec, using a stock R56 upper spring perch!

This is great. Are you going to email us with a shipping tracking number for the two sets coming our way in Louisville?

Last time your shipping was so fast, I imagine they will get here Friday or Saturday.

Thanks again.

So, for all those folks going through a few hundred miles, how are the springs settling?

LACooperS, SK8BRD, you guys still having a blast? Any picture updates?

TSW, did you ever get a picture from your JCW install?

Thanks guys, I think the springs are supposed to be here on Friday, so next week for Springs.

Doing some laps on Sunday then I will try again after the spring install at the same facility in December (after the springs set and settle), if the weather holds over 50.

settling in great
a few hundered miles later...ride is smooth and controlled and it seems as if for the day to day city drive the springs have softened a hair in situations like speed bumps, potholes, etc., but still feel solid in the turns, and where you would expect and want them to feel that way.... I have the non sport shocks, and although they work in conjunction in a more than adequate manor, IMO I think the springs would work even better with sport, JCW, or Koni shocks, as the added compression would probably balance out the spring quite well, and I will most probably upgrade when the Koni's become available...don't get me wrong, I have no major complaints driving as is, as I did have issues with the H&R's, I just think that it could be even better with a stiffer shock! All in all I still feel as if you are looking for a slightly more agressive drop than JCW and are somewhat budget concious, and ride quality concious... This is your Solution!
On to the Drop... I think it has settled a hair more than my previously posted photos, and looks pretty darn good... i will post a couple more photos tomorrow, and as stated in earlier posts, it's not my absolute dream amount of drop, but it is enough to look pretty darn good even with my low profile tires, and considering all the upside in overall ride quality, it's more than a fair trade... no regrets here

The track sounds great, and I am sure you will enjoy, and really enjoy it after you get your springs on... Hope all this helps... have a blast!

Nice rehash, the new springs arrived today, but I have some other things to do on Saturday, so I will wait a week before installing.

We measured the springs, looks like a 1 mil. fix. Nice job.

LACoopeS, if you get the chance snap some pictures and post, always nice to see change and good looking Cooper.

1400 miles on the production springs so far, and they get better everyday. I still need to find some 17" wheels and ditch the runflats, but that will have to wait until after the holidays. This weekend Eagles Canyon Raceway is having a Toy Run. $20 for a day at the track! WOO HOO! I think the car looks great, it's settled nicely. It's not so low that I scrape, but then I don't pull all the way into parking spaces anymore. I have the sport suspension, and I'm happy enough that I'll probably won't change out the shocks or reat sway bar (it's 18mm).

Put them on ASAP, you'll love it! The prototypes got me an additonal 5MPH average at ECR, and that's at stock height. I'm expecting all kinds of goodness this weekend with a lowered car.

SK8BRD,

Thanks, I bet you would notice another difference if you went to a 19mm adjustable rear bar on the track. Unless your going to go full 22-25 race bar.

I would love to hear how you track weekend goes, that is some great price for track time. I can only hope our new track HPR does toy days after it opens in 2009.

Track pictures are always appreciated.

I put a lot of wear on the passenger front spinning it up the hill, sure wish the LSD had been an option on the Justa!

Wheels are Flik Blasts, 15x6.5 tires are Sumitomo HTR Z 205/50/R15 120 tread wear rating from Tire Rack $53 a piece. Remember that these pics are on the prototypes that did not lower the car. With the prototype springs I averaged 5mph faster at ECR than stock. I just got back from a day at ECR with the production springs on. I was another mile an hour faster. I can't wait for the camber plates to show up!

Thanks for the early pictures, one mph, your probably getting much better on the track, so you probably did that on your own (driver skill).

How did the lower center of gravity feel?

A few snaps from this weekend going to be posted anywhere?

We've run the numbers and the percent difference in torque doesn't justify going to a 19mm bar. The other part of the equation is that the sport package takes the front bar from 21.5 mm to 23.5 mm, both are quite a bit different from the R53 24mm diameter. I might just wait until a full analysis is done before picking a new rear bar.

I was braking much later, and turning in much later on Sunday than the last time. Lower center of gravity felt great, I don't think there will be any pictures.

The one mph may be driver skill, but then again I have to practice the whole NASCAR thing when MINI goes Sprint Cup;

"Well Daryl, the Texas Speed Werks, Rahr Beer, Groovedaddy Muffler, Sirius Radio, MINI Cooper was really running strong today. Of course it helps that this naturally aspirated Chile Red Beauty gets three times the gas mileage as the other iron. And I appreciate that the fans understand when I have to do my burn out in reverse."

Good to be running strong. To bad on the no pictures, perhaps your next time on the track.

How do you have your alignment set for now and what are the plans for when you get the front camber plates. Are you going aggressive negative camber?

I will be putting my rev. b springs on Friday morning, I will try to take some pictures after install and more in a few hundred miles.

I still want to hear more about the JCW and how it turned out.

Sorry for the double post. Nobody around.

Springs are installed, first driving impressions, steering is crisper, ride is flat and not harsh.

Need the springs to settle for a few hundred miles.

One thing I noticed is that my DSC and Brake light throw when driving straight at a modest speed, but nothing to do with the springs or install. They go off after a few seconds of modest driving.

I suspect I may have tweaked that last Sunday when I was running briskly on the CSP test track in Golden.

Pictures later of before and after install, then after a few hundred settling miles.

I'm impressed with the ride smoothness.

Before

Two pictures before:

after below:

After full picture before settling, only 3 miles after a quick test drive. Not framed the best but you can see it is lower. The rear settles in very fast, still working the fronts, need to drive another 400 miles this week.

Springs are installed and I am really happy with how they look and feel excellent. I put 50 miles on them and they should be perfect when finished settling.

That floaty feeling is gone and like everyone has mentioned they feel smooth.

The rears tend to settle quicker for two reasons - one, the wire diameter is smaller, and two, the wind pitch is less steep... Even though they're a higher spring rate, these two factors mean the rears settle in quicker. Seems contradictory, right? Yes, it does. Hah! Gotta love spring theory!

Glad we're getting more feedback, too. Enjoy the new, nicer ride and better performance!

Can some one explain what these alignment pins are, where, why you would want to pull them, impact of pulling them, etc.? Pics would be helpful too.
I don't think I've heard of this on any other strut-equipped cars.
When you say -1.5 deg of neg camber, does this mean that's the amount of neg that you can adjust, or is that your final setting? If so, how does that compare with the factory specs?

On the rear, do you need the adjustable control arms to bring the car back into factory specs? (need to know before ordering.)
Thanks
