Suspension JCW @ Track Day Willows Springs Raceway
rts:
that "pillow block" contains a thrust rated, sealed, double row angular contact ball bearing to handle the steering action and transfer the load force from the strut shaft to the chassis. The bearing is mounted in the external 3" dia cup fuly suspended in cast-in-place polyurethane to provide some cushion and alignablity. I made the unit as thick as it is to match the stock non-adjustable rubber mount, since I felt using the camber plates should be distinct from trying to lower the car.
I was not able to source a spherical bearing that would accomodate rotation and alignability for a reasonable price (I pay about $20 for the angular contact bearing...the closest spherical bearing was about $75. I may yet review that option however.

Well Sparco's aren't really going to be much cheaper and they will require the use of a rollcage to mount them which if you already have one or are getting on it isn't bad..but otherwise the 225 for the schroth's is a lot cheaper.
