Suspension Palo Uber Snafu...
*resident half-wit* (who's smart enough to know not to give Palo Uber a dime no matter what, which is more than we can say for you)
if anybody's a half wit, it's you (in fact, this post makes you the KING of the half wits), with this irrational, biazzare, illogical train of thought. let's see, do you jump off cliffs without a parachute because everybody says you need one and whines about gravity and you want to protest the whiners?
Wow...
You're right...that's me - the half-wit
You people have a good time stroking each other, patting each other's backs, swinging off each other's jock-straps, and the like. Palo's still a registered vendor the last time I looked
How long have you choir boys been singing about injustice, even when you haven't actually suffered any? Forget about press, when are you people going to stand up and say "enough is enough"? So what if you're banned? If boycotting Palo is what you people are truly after, then shut up and do something about it. It's precisely why I bought the product and started this thread - with the sole intention of booting these *******s for good. If you can't understand that, then continue babbling on until you're blue in the face. For those of you willing to put your user account (and maybe even some money) on the line in the name of principle, I applaud you. Regurgitating the same crap over and over has obviously not gotten the job done in the past, so what's the next step? Anyone? Something? How about you flyboy2160?
Looking forward...

This whole convoluted thread has become illogical. I don't see anyone trying to defend the vendor's well established history of unethical behavior and misrepresentation of products yet the OP has allowed it to devolve into a dis-fest.
To the OP (if you happen to revisit) - good luck with your one-man crusade. It's too bad your defensiveness and ill-advised approach has cost you what at one time appeared to be sympathetic (and in a few cases empathetic) support.
(...oh, and I see you're back...)

Missing The Point...
...regardless of the nature of my approach, either this is something actionable, or everyone is wasting their time. I believe it to be very actionable, and yet ALL ANYONE CAN THINK OF IS HOW SILLY AN IDEA IT WAS TO CREATE SOME FRESH PERSPECTIVE HERE. I guess I could have started a bandwagon, but from what I hear, no one is listening to that tired crap anymore - NAM or their resellers. The only way to get anything accomplished here is for as many people as possible to vote boycott. I had hoped to get some people behind the idea, and wouldn't you know it, someone took the words right out of my mouth. You don't have to like me or my methods, but truth be told, your's have yet to accomplish a damn thing - checked again and, yep, they're still a vendor.
Looking forward...

I'm way late to this thread but wanted to point something out....
The center on this hub is 78mm. Although the spacer would still be center on either of the 4 bolt patterns its made for, it would no longer allow the wheels to use the hub's hub-centric ring.
Maybe I should go out and measure, but my rings do not extend beyond 5mm into the wheel--STOCK.

yeah, there is a boycott, by everyone that does their research. Im just not sure you should have to have an official boycott thread when there are countles threads and pages in them about how bad palo is. If you searched their name, you would find only bad (except the 2.5 member happy customer club). And im also not sure how buying their product, knowing it was crap, and then complaining about it, would make anything better. You wernt the first to complain, and im sure you wont be the last. Im starting to wonder just who the half wit is as well. I see you posted alot after you signed off tho....
I still stand by what I said in a previous thread that if you can read their descriptions of the products, purchase it without doing any research or checking other vendors/companies, you get what you deserve. I still check their store from time to time to get a good laugh.
What's the point of all of US starting a boycott thread, unless the thread is so huge as to be in the face of any would-be Palo Uber patron to step into the forums? Boycotting the products ourselves won't affect this company, because we wouldn't be buying their products in the first place! I've never touched their products, and never had a plan to. I took one look at their stuff and realized it was horsecrap when I first laid eyes on it.
So for what it's worth, let's start a Ban Palo Uber thread anyway- we might as well. Maybe if it's big enough, it will have an effect.

Just curious anyone look at the standards for NAM vendors? If you want Palo to not be a vendor might be better to make your case off that. If its purely him loosing a popularity contest for selling things with a stupid sales pitch at a price much higher than the market, then threads like this will last (long as they stay within the guidelines) and hopefully warn new comers but Palo Uber will remain a vendor.
Well threads like this spawn because someone has a bad experience with PU, and we sit around for a while laughing at the idiocy of the vendor. But there has not really ever been a thread dedicated to warning people of it.
I can't seem to locate the NAM vendor standards, but apparently they are quite low, when you find
"All of our Mini Cooper accessories have been designed by Palo Uber," on their vendor description, yet it has been shown that this is most definately NOT the case
Numerous complaints by the NAM community regarding this vendor,
Notice, the people at PaloUber are conspicuosly silent in anything regarding their products
\ Has any one ever actually SEEN any art work by this person supposedly named Palo Uber? I certainly have not, and the net is quite barren of any artwork or references to this person. I would not be surprised to discover that PaloUber artworks are just cheap chinese paintings done by child labor, over advertised, and sold by some small "Gallery" in Newport Beach. CA. Much like their automotive offerings.
Just goes to show you, some people will do anything for a buck

I'm able to use 5mm spacers on my stock '06 hubs and still let the wheels use the hubcentric rings... those spacers are just flat like the PU ones I think that the magic number is 7-8mm... anything more and it will take a new hub to be built up on the spacer.
I'm a little late to this party but I wanted to provide some of my thoughts relative to Palo Uber and why they are still a vendor on NAM. The short version is that if a vendor provides MINI-related products they can be a vendor on the site. That's why you don't see cell phone ads or Netflix here.
In being a vendor on the site it is on the basis that NAM provides them advertising placements and features to support to promote their products/services to the members of the site. As such we effectively provide a means to drive people to their doors.
What we don't control or regulate is what a vendor does once someone passes through their doors, inquires about products, purchases a product, needs support, etc. Effectively their customer service experience.
We have never provided the promise to vendors or members of the site that NAM (ie - me) will provide any type of Consumer Reports type service in certifying vendor claims, evaluating products, etc. What we do provide is the means for people to discuss their experiences. If someone has a bad experience AND has tried to resolve it with the vendor then I would fully expect them to share their experience with others using the forums on NAM. Often having this posted creates pressure on the vendor to change their practices. At the minimu, if they don't, over time they will see their sales fall and will eventually leave the market.
At the minimum I fully expect every consumer to research before spending money. That's what the site was designed for from the beginning...a community-based means of sharing information. There are numerous ways to do this:
- forums (obviously)
- the review system
The review system link is shown on every page in the header and also in the Main Menu. Have a great or bad vendor experience then take a few minutes and add a review and share your experience. (BTW - only 8 people have posted reviews about Palo Uber)
NAM is here to share information and we offer a bunch of ways to do it. Just because someone doesn't take the time to research something and end up frustrated with their purchase doesn't mean that the information wasn't available to them. Its really a matter of due diligence. You can't protect everyone from not doing what you would do yourself.

You make a very understandable point and I agree with your reasoning Mark. Maybe a very visible disclaimer stating that NAM does not endorse , recommend, etc., etc any Vendors would help clear this up and let new folks know that they need to research before they buy. The search function has been a valuable tool for me and I will continue to use it often!
I've thought about doing something like this but I haven't identified a place that would be good to ensure everyone sees it. We already have enough problems with people even reading the guidelines so I'd like something like this to stand out a bit more. If anyone has ideas on a location I'm all ears.
