H&R 19mm Rear Sway Bar

I bought one and will have it installed together with my lowering springs. I am not going to track the car. So the question is, should I set it at the stiffest setting (closest to bar) or the softer one?

Thanks

start with the softer, then try stiffer. it's really not a difficult job adjusting it once you have it in

i dont know the diameter of the r56 bar so im not sure how much stiffer the 19mm is than stock. maybe an r56 owner can chime in...

but the safer bet is to start soft (which im pretty sure will be stiffer than stock to begin with) then adjust stiffer if it's still got too much understeer.

i can say this about my bar (hsport comp on an r53) soft was a lot stiffer than stock.

btw- noticed you're in corona, you should head out to a manic monday meet.

Thanks for the link, Ontario Mills is like 15 minutes away from me.

The stock rear swaybar for the R56 is 17mm.

17? hmm, if i were you i'd start at soft and up it if it doesnt feel like it's neutral enough. although, second thinking myself, i just read a short/condensed write up by snid/brown mini re: the r56 and he was saying that it just feels like it doesnt want to come around.

if you think you're comfortable with catching/controlling an oversteering car go for the stiff. you really shouldnt be in any dangerous situations if you're following the speed limit and driving reasonable.

btw-people have also put one side on stiff and one on soft to get a medium setting. from what ive heard this does not force or bind the bar to bias on any particular side.

you should head out to manic, i'll be there and a few other mini's will be there tonight too. lots of dubs show up also

I think I will do the soft setting then, It is safer to have a car understeer than oversteer, and 19mm rear sway bar will probably make the handling a lot better than my stock 17mm even in the soft setting, i think.

Thanks for the invite, I couldn't make it yesterday as something came up. What time does it start and what time does it end?

I agree with the above. Always start soft then move up from there. Plus don't forget you can stagger them side to side, for an inbetween setting as well.

Let me know if I can help in anyway!

Have one side on the middle setting and one side on the outer most setting, etc., etc......different setting on each side.
