Suspension R56 Cross/JIC coilovers installed with pics
let me know when we can meet up at the shop as I am interested in seeing them installed on your car
If the R56 rides anything like the R53 does with the Cross system, these are going to start selling fast...I just installed these on my R53 today and man, the ride is incredible. I have experience with 2 other coilover systems and these ride far smoother than either one. I will give a detailed writeup soon, but I want to get some more driving done.

Mat,
with the soft seats of the R56 they are even more incredible
glad to hear you like them
you need to come to the track with us now... no excuses

Is this Lawrence?
How much adjustment is there in the height on these coilovers? On that R56 pictured, how much lower could it go without losing travel in the suspension? I know that is one of the main advantages of the JIC/Cross coils is that you can maintain the travel even if you lower it more, but would you be able to go another inch lower and still maintain the ride quality and travel? Thanks!

not sure but his car will be coming back Monday for the prototype exhaust we are going to build for the R56 group!
We will be doing a full exhaust all the way back to improve the system complete with dyno's and eventually tuning.
after that's done we will be doing a turbo upgrade kit....
busy times here at RMW

Maybe one day in the distant future I know who to call to find out how much power it takes to explode my MCSa, or be the baddest automatic around

Can you go lower than that, that still seems kinda high? (honest question, not trying to be rude....looking to see which would be the best coils if i trade up to an r56) How many threads were left?
That'd be awesome.
Thanks
In installing and designing these coilovers have you guys noticed any new characteristics or geometry in the r56 that would inhibit it from be able to go as low the r50/r53 cars? Maybe the CV's or anything else?
Did you keep the same amount of travel for the r56 cross coilovers (i know they raise and lower independent of travel)? There were some problems with travel when it came to the new r56 OEM shocks with lowering springs.

Looks great....just wonder about a couple things. How did this affect the ride? Are you hitting the bumps stops alot now?
Here is my car with Cross Coilovers (from RMW). I don't care for it to be slammed as there is too much abuse to the front spoiler that way. Danny at Minicorsa installed them and I just stopped by for him to adjust the front of the car up 5 full turns of the strut thingy device. Doing so lifts the car but does not reduce the spring travel.
The car rides stiff but not harsh. It does grip better but I've got to dial out some of the rear camber as I've lost the neutral handling I had before.

Stiffness settings now are stock RMW - JIC settings. Changing ride height only slides (spins) the spring assembly up or down on shock body, so spring rate is not changed. I believe the rate is 400lb/in front, 374 lb/in rear.
Lowering car changes camber so that is what I attribute increased understeer to. I have some rear control arms on the way. Looking at car, I estimate (eyeball) rear neg cam at a degree more than front, so will take out a deg. Alta says 3-4 spins on turnbuckle of their control arm will remove a degree of negative, so I'm doing that. Not my first choice, but am getting the Altas off the board. I would have preferred the solid bushing control arms but they were more and I don't drive that much or subject car to much bad weather/salt as I'm in SoCal, center of mini modding madness.
Prior setup was stock springs and shocks (1/03 build), so rear camber, height and toe were factory. Front was probably 2 deg. neg with Webb camber plates, alta 22mm rear bar set soft.
EDIT - 337 rear rate, per post 11 here:
