Ordered TSW springs. Now what?

So now I'm looking at camber plates and adjustable rear control arms. Txwerks (i thought) told me they had the IE adjustable plates but I couldn't find that on their site.

I read a bunch about lower control arms for the rear, and there are tons of options. I want reasonably quiet and sturdy. Suggestions?

I went ahead and got the IE control arms for the rear from TSW when I ordered the springs. Also got the IE fixed camber plates at the same time.

MAKE SURE to get the proper polyurethane bushing grease sent with the control arms. I didn't have it, and mine squeeked like crazy until I was able to find some and get them greased. They're totally silent now. TSW thought that IE had sent the grease with the control arms, but they hadn't.

The IE arms are pretty straightforward and sturdy, but they're just bare aluminum - no fancy anodizing.

Swaybar, USS, FSB already done. I just need to sort out which camber plates and control arms to buy. That, and the engine damper.

I have been told the engine damper doesn't do a whole lot of good. Control arms would help, but they aren't needed as the TSW springs don't drop far enough to really set the rear end too far from OE spec. Camber plates would help some, but which ones would you get? Do you have justacooper or the S? Try maybe a power upgrade like a panel filter, intake, or maybe an exhaust. Just my .02. Hope that helps!

Depends on your goals, but if your focus is suspension then you're headed in the right direction!

We can get the plates for you any time... In fact, we may have a set sitting here, but I'll have to double check. We don't put them on the website.

Rear arms are rear arms - there are lots of good choices out there.

If you don't have a rear swaybar, now's a good time to change it - we like the 19mm H&R.

argh

I guess everyone forgot about me!

Anyway, My car is an '06 JCW MCS. The suspension is stock sport suspension. The car makes loads of power, and I'm working on the suspension. Like I said I've done 19mm HSport rear bar, M7 USS and strut tower brace.

I want the engine damper because clearly, the engine moves all over the world inside the engine bay, it feels ugly. More support would be an improvement for sure.

I do want the camber plates, adjustable would be best. From everything I've read about rear arms here, there are a lot of differences. I guess I'll just do another search and read all of that again :D

TXwerx, if you can get me the plates let me know.

We can get you the plates... PM me if you want.

On the rear arms for your application, I suggest the H-Sport's...

Power = nothing without suspension....

I would recommend any rear arms that aren't simple heim joints.. As you've probably read if you've been searching, they tend to be noisy and have a limited lifespan..

OTOH, I bought the cheapest arms I could find, helix's old design, and they are holding up and aren't noisy so far. 20k miles and a bit of winter so far.

i didn't want to make a new thread so i have a quick question- are control arms extremely necessary? i plan on going with m7 springs and i've heard they've got one of the more dramatic drops in comparison to hsports, tsw and the others.

i'd say with the m7 springs you're pushing it in regards to neg rear camber, so in my opinion, i would recommend that you do get them...

But I also wouldn't say they're "EXTREMELY necessary." You'll have more negative camber than is optimal. But the car will probably still handle to your satisfaction for daily driving duties.

And if you have an 05-06, you can dial some of that camber out, stock.

I've got a heavily optioned MCS (sunroof) plus I carry a bunch of stuff in the boot all of the time. After installing the TSW springs, I really needed the lower control arms. I was running over -3 degrees of camber and the rear wheels were very much like this /------\. It was so bad that someone pulled up to me at a red light and mentioned it! The steering was a bit twitchy too, until I got things under control and got a good alignment.

With the more extreme M7 springs, I can't imagine not installing lower rear control arms at the same time.

I had the IE adjustable camber plates and was very unhappy with them, i upgraded to the H-sport, and now im happy , if you got the extra $$$ thats the way to go, easier to adjust and look nicer.

I have not yet installed my SPC control arms I purchased through JEGS. I have also not yet installed the resonator bypass lol.

I like to buy stuff and leave it sitting around. Mainly because I traded my BMW in for a 2008 Honda Civic. It gets over 32 MPG and that is what I drive on a daily basis. The cooper has been relegated to "fun" stuff. haha.

Anyway, I can't complain about the springs. They do exactly what I was told they would do, and that means they are firm, less bouncy than stock, slightly lower than stock, very linear, and quite effective.

I haven't had a chance to order the camber plates just yet, but as soon as I have everything laying around in my garage I might be motivated to install the stuff hah!

Tax returns are coming soon. Maybe then.

BTW: I installed the Ireland Engineering fixed front camber plates that I got from TSW. I'm not a 'tweaker' when it comes to suspension and it got my front camber to around -1.8 degrees (right where I was looking for it to be), so I'm happy. I got one of the newer designed pieces with a beefy top plate, so it's good for me.

That's very odd because after installing my H-Sports, I had -1.7 and -1.8, pre-alignment. I had switched out the lower arms at the same time, but they were identical length as the stockers when installed.

Unless the "pre" specs that the alignment place gave me weren't really pre numbers, but I don't think so....

Succubus,
Are you running your oem shocks/struts with the new springs?

That's a roger. They have 15k miles on them so far and nary a problem. When they die I'll make a decision where to go from there but so far, all is well.
