Odd (gurgle) sound at higher rpm's

It's the best way to describe the sound, an inconsistent gurgle type sound, not a grinding, scraping or banging. It's only noticeable above 3k rpms, it's intermetant, and only after she's warmed up. It's most noticeable at the top end of 2nd gear, it's very faint in the other gears.

Sorry I cannot describe it better but would anyone have an idea what the noise might be. She drives fine, shifts fine, everything seems fine other then this noise.

How many miles are on the car? Is it throwing a code? Is the coolant level ok? Try bleeding the system or just flush and fill it.

Do you have an OCC installed? If you do check some of the post's here on NAM as to type of installation and be sure that your hose's are not being pinched.

What is an OCC?

As for the mileage, 55k. It's not throwing any codes and it doesn't sound like it's a fluid related issue. If I gas the engine when not in gear it doesn't make the sound it's only when I'm driving.

Could be a heat shield vibration, caused by harmonic vibrations at certain RPMs. Both of my MINIs have done that.

Well, you are describing the same sound I heard when I first noticed that I had a defective motor mount. It started out as a gurgle at higher RPMs. It then started making the same sound at lower RPMs, including even idle eventually.

Not to say that's your issue, but it is certainly an easy thing to look for. Just search the forums for motor mount and you will find a number of threads describing it.

Hope this helps...

Ohh, good one. I'll have to check that out. My guess is that it could be something that is loose and only vibrates making that sound at certain rpms.

It's not that. I keep an eye on my motor mount and it is in great shape.

I need to get under the car, look around and check things out to see if I can find anything loose.
