Messed up shifting

My 2005 MCS is nearing it's 50k warranty endcheck, and recently the shifting has been weird. It will randomly miss 2nd gear, engaging halfway and then it feels like it "kicks" the gear back into neutral. It also becomes hard to find certain gears, especially reverse, but it will happen to any gear. I pulled the shift boot off and the white plastic ring around the shift bearing is cracked in a few places, so I don't know if I have a broken shift bushing or if it could be something else. I've also heard of the battery cable on some of the S's getting in the way of the shift lines and causing gears to get lost in the shifttrack.

Anyone else experienced this, or have any input? Also, would something like this be covered under warranty?

I would be concerned

I have had this happen with a honda and it was the syncro. It went from popping out of gear to not staying at all.
You should get it checked ASAP before it gets worse.

the white plastic around the shifter should not be broken. take it in for repairs.
