"S" Hesitates When Shifting

We have a 2006 "S" convertible with 6-speed auto trans. I've noticed that, during normal acceleration, the car seems to hesitate or shudder a few times as it's shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. It's like the car isn't sure that it's time to shift. Anyone else experience this?

I have seen this too

I recently had my 03 S in the shop and was given an 06 S auto for a loaner. I did NOT like the way it shifted. It feels like they tried to make it shift harder to similate the stick shift experience. It just felt rough and uncoordinated. it took me 2 days to get used to it. I found I had to sort of "over drive" it to make it feel right. In essence I drove it harder and faster than I would have my own.

The tranny can seem to shfit harsher when the car is driven gently. Drive more aggressively and it is right on. Although the car will also adjust over time to your driving style. Mine likes the gas down alot.

How many miles do you have on it so far?

Ours shifts very quickly from 1st to 2nd since 1st is a very short gear. When the transmission is cold the 2nd to 3rd upshift is noticeably delayed - I just use the paddle to encourage the upshift a little earlier. Have never experienced a shudder, especially using the paddles.

The car has about 11,000 miles on it (just had the first oil change). I agree with others who said that the car shifts better if you stand on the accelerator. It doesn't shift well in city traffic or if you're accelerating up to a moderate speed (say, 45 mph). It's as if the car is thinking "c'mon we're not at a high enough speed to shift yet".

I have an '06 MCS automatic also. When i leave work i only drive maybe a couple hundred feet then have a stop sign. Once i start again the car practically crawls for a few seconds no matter how much my foot is on the gas. Then it decides to go and ends up shifting so hard that the car jerks forward and back, like it is trying to pick up speed too fast for the car. This only happens in the beggining, but is there something wrong? or just because like u said, the tranny is cold? thanks
