AC died...compressor fuse where?

My air conditioner compressor stopped working. The other day it
was working fine. it just blows hot air.

Where is the compressor fuse or the fuse that runs the compressor
circuit?

thanks!

errr, the fuses are all okay, also checked at the one inside the
cabin too.

I can hear the relay clicking, but the compressor doesn't run.

any other suggestions?

Are you still covered by the warranty?

If yes, get it to the dealer and let them fix that for you.

If not, then I'd suggest you bring it to a A/C specialist shop. They can test your system and tell you what is going on, for a fraction of dealer's price.

^^ that's great, but was wondering if anyone has actually
worked on these cars that might know more than the obvious
answer to take it to the dealer.

You mean the compressor is not running. If you have a leak, once the refrigerant only has X amount of static pressure the low pressure switch will keep the compressor from running. It may be a bad switch, but I would suspect a leak. Possibly a 100+ mph rock put a hole in your condenser. Look for dent/ oily dirt. R-134a is cheap compared to freon.Anyway, so adding some to the system will/may make it come back to life. Do that & it may last a year, maybe 1 day. The entire system uses less than a Lb. of r-134a Once you have no pressure or depressurize & replace components or seals you will also need to replace the reciever/dryer that keeps moisture out of the system.(long dessicant filled cylinder attached to the passenger side of condenser) Expansion valves and its 4 seals are prone to leak (behind plastic nxt to gas pedal

i used it (was garaged) but where exactly should i be checking?

Usually is a slow leak, Maybe its at the compressor, condenser, expansion valve, evaporater, receiver/dryer, hoses, o-ring connectors or pressure switches. You check everywhere. As I said before have someone add refrigerant using gages as to not overfill (hey now it works, but for how long?) Check for leaks now or wait & see how long it works. Your choice. Not a free 10 min. at home project, sorry. But not necessarily an expensive fix either.

Mine has been DEAD twice in about 2 years.

Be VERY sure that you are letting the system check itself when you start up.
Put the key in turn to "ON" NOT start, wait ... the lowest indicator on the fuel gauge will change from red to orange ... THEN start

Once I had to do a battery disconnect reset.

Each time the AC has then worked again

This start up (wait) procidure is very important...
My SA says that if there is a problem it moves to the end of the que to be auto fixed

I have heard this shutting off windows, sunroof, radio and AC

It is worth a try

didn't work. tried the re-set (unplugged battery too).

when i press the a/c mark (the snowflake), i hear a small noise from
the bonnet as it tries to turn over the compressor, but i don't hear the
hissing noise which we usually hear after it clicking on where we start
to get the cold air.

i monitor the voltage and there is no drop either.

wat the heck happend to my a/c?

Just got back from Patrick MINI. they found a slow leak and had to order
parts. They were very cool to charge it up so that at least i got cool
air until my parts come in/or until it all leaks out again.

Hope to get it fixed and done with by Friday of this week so that i
can enjoy motoring in comfort.

Patrick was cool to check it in this morning. Right now running a dye and trying to determine where the leak is.

Unlike last time though, I can hear it hissing. I hope they don't need to order more parts...
