Cabrio Boot Switch Problems

Hey Folks,

I don't know if anyone know's it or not, but the factory has a recall on the Boot Switch that let's you know if the rear hatch is closed or not by the light on the dash. My light has been staying on since I left the dealer a month ago, and the dealer told me that they had a new designed switch for it and is going to replace it this Saturday. So, if your having problems with the light on the dash on all the time---go see your dealer and tell them that your would like the new designed switch for the boot door light problem fixed.

If it is a recall, shouldn't we be getting a letter about it?
Mine hasn't been a problem but I know a lot of others have had issues.

My Dealer told me about it yesterday, that's all I know. I am going to have it fixed on Saturday. He said, the company has redesigned the switch at the rear door hatch.

Uhmmmm!!

Thanks for the info, as I just experience this problem yesterday. I was driving down the freeway and hit a good bump (roads in Nor. Cal suck) and the light came on. I freeked out since I was carring my laptop and other electronics back there. I pulled over and sure enough the boot was securely closed. I'll called my dealer today and find out what the scoop is.

I've had my MINI in twice to have this problem fixed. The first repair failed before I got out of the parking lot. The second repair lasted for a month or so and then failed. Hopefully this "redesigned" switch will do the trick. I have a call into my SA now.

I just took my Mini to get the switch replace and in fact, it is a new design. So far no problems after driving about 65 miles. When I asked my dealer about the recall, his comment back was "what recall?". So, I guess they're only replacing the switches that are faulty and people call in.
