Chirping sound at take off

I recently started to hear a little chirping noise coming from the front of my MCS. it is only for a split second then it goes away. it almost sounds like a little beeping horn. this occurs when i accelerate from a stop. im thinking it is a problem with the transaxel oil or something along those lines. Can i somebody please give me some input?

Sound like your lighting up the front tires before the DSC kicks in

I know exactly what you are talking about. It's a little click noise that happens as you pass a certain low speed in first gear while starting out. I asked my dealer about after I first got my MCS (mine's an '03) and he said not to worry and that all the cars have it. He did tell me what it was but I can't remember now... something engaging... I do remember being satisfied with the explanation, which is why I probably forget what it is now.

If it is the clutch, does the dealer usually do something about it under warranty?

I like to describe the noise like that of a mating pigeon, as if it were under the front of my car trying to get laid by my clutch.

I've mentioned it happening to my MINI Service and he said they would log it down and just watch it. This happens intermitently and he's hoping he doesn't put in a new clutch and find out the problem he thinks it is, isn't the problem.

Anyways, if my clutch breaks over this, it's covered under warranty.

I would advise you let your MINI mechanic know and have it logged down that it's happening.

The clicking noise some of you have mentioned just as you start out (at about 5mph) was explained to me by the mechanic as the ABS self check.

That's hilarious. But this is long after the clutch is fully engaged.

just got back from getting my 05 MCS serviced up at mini of towson.
while i wandering around the sales lot, i encountered
the tech who was moving my vehicle over to service.

i flagged him down when i heard the chirping noise as he
was engaging the clutch into reverse. it was quite loud
when heard from outside the passenger compartment.

the tech identified the noise right on the spot.
they replaced the left front axle assembly.

the metallic chirping noise is gone!!

Good to know. I have this exact same issue with my Mini. You hear it when reversing from a dead stop and occassionally when accelerating. Every now and then, it'll chirp repeatedly when cornering.

I'm bringing it in to the dealership next Saturday, so I'll ask them to look at the axle assembly. Thanks for the heads up!
